It’s like the ‘lesser evil’ thing: people who invoke ‘pendulum swings’ don’t expect to get clobbered by the pendulum, and they are comfortable with others being clobbered by the pendulum.

Very this! It also just just makes this weird assumption of “natural law” as if whole communities, ecosystems and cultures aren’t erased by the swing of a pendulum. There are people, places and opportunities we will never see again after this administration.
