There's no guarantee that hospitals that have chickened out will resume care once a Dem enters office. The threat of a future GOP administration will always hang over them. That's why the next Democratic admin needs to also find a way to punish the cowards. Or at least reward those who held strong.

It shouldn’t be a federal thing, states are more reliable - state AGs and hospital regulators should make it clear that ending gender affirming care will have serious consequences for your future accreditation and licensing
(And it doesn’t even need to be especially political - “why should we let you run a hospital when you’d leave patients in the lurch like this” is a perfectly reasonable thing for a state to ask)
When it's a State-run institution, the State needs to push back too.
