I didn't celebrate the closure. I'm aware that some people are taking that tone, but I didn't. The Democratic base is primarily urban. The Democratic Party therefore needs to be a primarily urban party, aggressively advocating for the interests of urban people.

It is a mistake for Democrats to write bills that direct massive amounts of subsidies to Republicans' districts, which Republicans don't vote for but then take credit for. That dynamic simply has to change.
