The flag-shaggers came through BTN last night and it all just seems so pathetic to me. When I was growing up, the consensus always seemed to be that if you have to take that much pride in your flag, then you must not have much else going for you. that really does not seem to have changed.

Maybe that's a regional thing. My favourite statistic to come out of where I grew up (Merseyside) is that during the Scottish independence referendum, independence often polled higher in Liverpool than it did in large parts of Scotland, mostly because of the dream that they'd take us with them.

So this fanatical, fascist flag wankery is so completely alien to me. Like, grow up! Get a hobby that's not based around the patch of ground you grew up on!
