It was the 1930s, of course they had a working iron and ironing board. They probably held a solid hunk of iron over an open flame.🔥🔥🔥👀

Likely. Electricity in rural areas was rare at that time. My mother talked about those old irons that had to heated on an open flame. She used them from the late 1920s until electric irons were affordable.
