Vitally important. The ECHR is there to protect us all from bad actors ( not Nicholas Cage) in our own government. Situations as we see developing in the states & once saw in 1930s Germany. To protect the people from malignant rulers.
Nicholas Cage has the odd moment but absolutely...we're on a slippery slope without the Progressive Leadership & unity to counter it.
I was already beginning to work on an escape plan (Iβm Trans), but talk of leaving ECHR is making this more urgent. This is Brexit MK2, cooking up some mythical reason for leaving ECHR which will be another societal & economic disaster. The descent into an autocratic / fascistic state is loomingβ¦
I've long regretted that my Irish & French links are too remote to garner an EU passport but tbh I'm not sure anywhere will end up being safer. Plus I love my Country & don't want to abandon this fight. For me Brexit was never about the economy but the loss of our International Rights & Protections.
Well if the Deform lunatics get into power / sharing in a GE then fleeing will be right up there for any minority they target. I suspect my Irish links are not good enough for an EU passport, but Ireland as an EU country might be a safer bolt hole to stay & get residency.
