Remember this, it was only last year. Support for Pilots by Air Canada Flight Attendants Union Solidarity Where are the pilots now?
this was 2 days ago www.facebook.com/AirCanadaALP... or you can check out this statement of support from the air line pilots association www.alpa.org/news-and-eve...
Definitely saw them on the picket lines and they issued a statement of solidarity.
Air Canada should be forced to pay Flight Attendants $30/hr for "ground pay" until Air Canada hammers out a deal where Attendants get paid for every hour they work. Enough of throwing the worker under the bus when it's the employer holding everything back.
It’s disgusting how the workers have been treated by Air Canada & the liberals. Seriously, unpaid work? They can hand out massive pay cuts to their fat cats & pass that $ to their employees. They should also retroactively pay back every minute of “unpaid labour” these poor people were forced to do.
These flight attendants also get many $$ is perks with the airlines. Their union is a joke’
PERKS don't pay their bills
Then they should go work somewhere else. Travel perks have always been part of Airline employee benefits. Give your head a shake!
Perks and benefits shouldn't be part of compensation. That's why they're called 'perks'.
No, but the travel, hotel etc. benefits accorded to airline employees compensates for the salary. That is why you go to work for an airline.
Maybe we should be joining for us to get perks for our jobs instead of being petty and jealous and wanting others to lose theirs.
we found the dude who wants to get paid in pizza parties
Have you read the offer? Union leaders need a kick in ass. www.aircanada.com/media/air-ca...
Congrats on achieving the tentative agreement. And feel free to remind everyone that the entire strike could have been avoided if the Minister had clearly signalled, 2 weeks ago, that she would not intervene.
Carney, our banker, is somewhat overdrawn already it seems, maximizing the interests and attentions of business, rather than people, just so fat cats and small cats too can fly to destinations unknown ✈️🇨🇦
They may need a back to work clause ensuring no criminal charges can be filed.
A song from sane American friends...please listen! youtu.be/1Uw4Ac0h9_A?...
And it worked!
THEY HAVE A TA! Imagine that! When the employer ACTUALLY SITS DOWN AT THE TABLE WITHOUT THE EXPECTATION THAT THE GOV’T WILL INTERVENE ON THEIR BEHALF, we get a deal. SOLIDARITY! ✊ DIRECT ACTION GETS THE GOODS! 🐈⬛
These flight attendants get paid for what they do. Air Canada would be better off to start laying them off.
good luck with that ya bootlicking dumbass
Let's let your boss know u are ok with unpaid work then.
The flight attendants are not highly trained personnel.
Get a different job then. Give your head a shake.
Maybe the top brass needs to be let go. 🤔 They are obviously incompetent for letting this run amok. Unpaid work is absurd. #AirCanadaSrike #cdnpoli
cabincrewhq.com/air-canada-t... looks like 7 weeks unpaid training and costing the applicant $1750 so layoffs would be a minimum of grounding everything for 7 weeks.
Shut the fuck up, corporate stooge.
Not sure if there's a connection but since the jobs minister announced a probe into unpaid work, seems the union and AC are in meetings along with a mediator this evening
Well actually, we should be asking why the offer is unacceptable? www.aircanada.com/media/air-ca...
Absolutely
Because many hours of work is actually unpaid-they are only paid while the aircraft is moving. They are on-board and working, pay them the hours they work.
Did you read it? Skip the part that mention ground pay?
West jet flights from Edmonton to Victoria have gone up 5x the price they were a few weeks ago. Air Canada must be hemorrhaging cash. They'll settle soon.
Or west jet is price gouging!
I'd go with price gouging
That’s absolutely typical of WestJet.
Why i avoid them like the plague... one of the many reasons
I had to go to Regina and my only choice was WestJet. Fucking awful. they cancelled my flight home, no re-book. on hold for five hours to re-book. got to the airport, which has NO amenities, and the flight was delayed six hours. I would rather revive real passenger rail service than fly westjet.
I feel ya. A.C. almost left me stranded in frankfurt, germany for 30 days in 2022... not cause of work action. They overbooked my flight so rebooked me on one 30 days later without giving me a heads up. Found out at the airport from the international staff who fixed things BUT STILL!
Also i'm sorry that happened. Westjet absolutely fucking sucks. After they enflicted and forced Cuntservative propaganda on unwilling passengers by allowing ParachutePierre to campaign on a flight they are an airline of last resort for me. Even then I try other options
Hello can you please follow back and DM us your contact number,we would like to respond. Thanks,

7 weeks and $1750 of unpaid work just to qualify to be a flight attendant so if they fire everyone they are grounded for a minimum of 7 weeks. cabincrewhq.com/air-canada-t...
That's how you fucking do it. Hope we see some of this soon.
✊ SOLIDARITY! CUPE STRONG! FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT! #CUPE #STRIKE #FAIR
The unfortunate thing is that there isn’t a single political party anymore in Canada that really pays anything more than lip service to working people. Even the major “leftist” parties cater to corporate interests while trying to convince workers they are looking out for them.
Yes, Carney should have been in Washington DC supporting Zelenski instead of in Ottawa defending slave labour for workers who just coincidentally happen to be predominantly women.
I do hope the NDP takes their head out of their ass and puts up a leader that actually stands for the workers and has the charisma to convince the general population that they're doing what's right in that regard.
Like what that NYC mayoral candidate is doing
Cheers!
Pre-flight checks are 90% of airline safety, just like pre-operative preparation in essential in anesthesia. Flight attendants have to be paid. Don’t let multi-million bonus CEOs expect essential safety work for free. I support #CUPE - do better #AirCanada
#workers #strike #fair #bloatAtTop

I was all for the flight attendants the instant I saw they don't get paid then the plane is on the ground. Blatant wage theft. Even if they kill my upcoming vacation.
IMHO they may have very reasonable demands but it's terrible timing when we are currently facing down a potential hurricane to our economy with the crazy pedophile in Washington. We need to stand together right now.
Weird how every time people go on strike or hold a protest it's always the wrong time to do it. Could you explain for the class what a GOOD time to go on strike is?
Yes. It’s horrible that in a time of economic uncertainty a greedy corporation that pays exorbitant amounts to executives expects its employees to do unpaid work. Pay the employees what they’re due and they’re back to work tomorrow.
Then let's stand together against slave labour....
Then pressure the government and airline to agree to the unions demands. We’ve got to stick together, right?
Every. Time. people in major industries strike the companies don't BOTHER to bargain in good faith b/c they KNOW the government will force them back to work. There has NEVER been a better time to strike and force the company to take the demands of workers seriously
oh, this isn't a good time? when is a good time? December?
The intransigence of Air Canada’s executive suite has less than nothing to do with Trump. This is about the ownership class pulling out all the stops to grind workers under their heels, and the government’s complicity in that project.
standing together means standing up for all workers, not backing down to corporations and CEOs with record profits and multimillion dollar incomes
You can’t stand together in solidarity with someone who is exploiting you.
If there are ANY circumstances where you'd take the side of Capitalists (=Fascists) over your Fellow Workers, are you REALLY antifa?
Terrible timing? "Stand together?" Oh, you mean "stand together," but only when it doesn't inconvenience *you.*
Good point. So, you're standing with the workers and telling your MP you do not support the Government trying to end the strike by fiat?
Why does standing together mean workers should be paid below minimum wage for a service considered critical?
It's very terrible timing for Air Canada to be underpaying flight attendants so badly that they're forced to strike to afford basics human necessities. There is an easy and quick solution but Air Canada refuses to bargain or fairly compensate its staff.
Perfect reason for the public and the govt to pressure the airline to negotiate in good faith. That's what standing together means
Problem is the Government should have been forcing the Issue on the Airline weeks ago not promising them relief.
Question: Who does the economy -really- benefit, if an entire sector of industry has to endure sub-poverty salaries and institutional wage-theft?
Correct, stand together with the workers, not the fat cats at the top, getting rich off the back of your fellow Canadians
This is the way
Yea, but not on the backs of workers.
