The TX House, continuing its march back to the 18th century, has passed a law that allows people here to sue providers of medical pregnancy cessation meds for $100,000. Anyone. Your coworker. Your neighbor. Doesn’t seem like this would be legal, but the fact that it passed to “protect women.” 🤬

Let them try to sue a Canadian! We're here to help...if needed.

I’m not sure they can sue someone from another state. First, they would need to prove who provided it, which can be worked on. Also, other states are not bound by TX laws, no matter how much Paxton wants to think himself omnipotent.

On that last point, we (everyone outside of Texas) saw that when Abbott (or was it Paxton?) threatened to send police to arrest Democrats who had fled the state, how meaningless his threats were.

There probably would be jurisdictional issues there but the leg doesn't really think those sort of things out. Some of the stuff that gets passed just becomes a headache. Their interpretation on standing on this is extremely loose too which contradicts how they handled standing in Kate Cox's case.

They are also trying to sue a doctor in NY who sold pills to someone in TX, and NY is saying, yeah, no dice. This is no different.

Yeah I am sure they think SCOTUS will somehow justify this shit. In a sane world they wouldn't. But at some point someone other than 🍊 💩 is likely going to ignore SCOTUS.

As we know it's not about "protecting women" its about controlling women.

It sure is. Women will have to maintain the same level of secrecy that they did about their periods and other healthcare as we did before the 1970s. It is also notable that the number of teen pregnancies in TX has increased since 2022 after being in decline and infant mortality rate has also ⬆️

And then they'll argue that a pregnant woman cannot argue against a law because her health isn't in poor enough condition.

How long before California passes similar legislation -- against gun manufacturers?
