I’ve gone from really liking Jeffries to a Newsom fan. I really like him standing ALL THE WAY UP! We need help from politicians!

So much hope early on the Jeffries would be a force for change but alas, he is showing he really isn't. Lately his failure to endorse Mamdani just shows he is an establishment Dem who is for the status quo and not for change.

Gov. Newsom isn't perfect but he's actually standing up to Trump. Some say his redistricting plan could backfire. But I disagree. As he said, it's time to fight fire with fire. If Texas is playing games with redistricting, then California can, too. Other states should do this, too.

Looking at this from outside the US and I'm not a citizen, I see state politicians, State Governors and junior members of congress standing up to Trump regularly. What I don't see is the National Democratic leadership. Is this media ignoring them or are they too gutless to stand up and be counted?

Newsome is a raging transphobe. He spent the year publishing his own podcast where he hosted right-wing notions and agreed with their bigotry. Jeffries also stood and talked for an entire day, but in that time, he never once mentioned trans rights. The Democratic Party is a conservative party.

Picking figures to be fans of doesn’t always pan out, but I think you’re on to something with picking what type of behavior to support, do believe Newsom deserves a cookie, Jeffries a time-out, and since I’m a Jeffries constituent invested in Mamdani, I appreciate Newsom making Jeffries look slow.

As you can see by the comments, Americans have no solidarity, no solutions, just bullshit. The only time Americans stand together is to hurt the less fortunate .

As a Californian, it kills me that he has become our most effective spokesman. His cozying up to fascists and his inexplicable comments on trans athletes were for me unforgivable. He's doing a great job fighting back, but he strikes me as a poser and I simply cannot trust him.

Do you mean that you're fan of someone who repeatedly platformed fascists on his podcast, and agreed with people like Charlie Kirk when discussing (ending) trans rights? I like Newsom's belligerence towards Trump. I also know that he's a self-serving piece of shit. I'm no fan of him.

Newsome is good solid speaker but he's a little too slick politican for the main stream. The democratic party needs someone not currently on the radar. Newsome is running a risk with this redistricting, he could flip his state purple.

I’m disappointed by the lack of strong, effective Democratic leadership—Jasmine Crockett, AOC, and Jamie Raskin can’t do it all on their own! While I agree that GN is a less that perfect example, at least he is punching back and going AT the monster that so many shy away from.

I like Newsom's posts, but it's not what counts. All politicians have betrayed the country. Sadly, I don't see any way politicians can fix this without a complete replacement of all of them. They've all been bought out by corporations and spend their time pitting us against each other to hide it.

It’s mostly about timing, right now. Winston Churchill was a brilliant wartime prime minister, but when peace returned, he was voted out because he was a crap peacetime PM. Right now, Gavin is the best hope-creator. He’s the right man for this moment. I want him to succeed 100% in this endeavour.

I hear you my friend. Thanks for the caution advice. It’s going to take a hell of a power hose to put this blaze out though, and Gavin could very well be up to the task. I’ve been so disappointed in Hakeem and the vote-with-republicans attitude, and Schumer and his sternly worded letters. WTH!
