Science is hard. You gotta prove it, test it, and reproduce the results. Pseudoscience is easy. You make it up, add some fear, and watch ignorant people spread it.

Well said.
"A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes."
"One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us."
"It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back." -- Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark
People are so gullible these days that they believe whatever nonsense is floating around Facebook. They share it without stopping to check it first. When is the last time a peer-reviewed article from a real scientific journal was shared on Facebook? I'm guessing it's never happened.
you also get peer-reviewed in science by people equally qualify to assess what you've discovered. No such checks are done of republican liars.
And even after proving you need to retest after additional tools or data become available.
That's the falsifiability element....scientific "truth" is always a provisional "truth". Doubt is a very positive attribute.
Yeah, in a year later when no one knows what you’re talking about it doesn’t matter because it was pseudo science and it wasn’t real anyways.
Real science is math, something I didn’t understand when I chose my major; even chemistry is math. Boring, lol. It’s relating the science we use in everyday life which can excite folks. My favorite chemistry class…unlocking stains (chemical bonds) from fabrics. Now that’s interesting!
Math is definitely a science. I loved all my science classes. Physics was my favorite but as a mom, unlocking stains is pretty interesting!
You are correct…math is a science, and not my strong suit, lol. When I opted for Natural Resources my mind was thinking trees, rocks, water, critters…everything in the natural world I appreciate…but so many classes had math! I’m glad you enjoyed it! My favorite class was probably ecology.
Largely true about hard science, though nobody should need to point out that you fail to disprove rather than prove it. Soft science falls right in between those two. A lot of the shit mental health professionals treat as objective reality is an inch from pseudoscience.
Yep, yet progressive people are the snowflakes.
You mean like untested, unproven, covid vaccines?
Sarcasm?
Well science is hard. You have to test it, reproduce results with blind studies, you need to be open to all results, follow the data. And not censor people with dissenting views. And if you find that certain people are not affected except increasing negatives, you should not proceed just for profits
You are aware that all medications - all - carry some detrimental effects in at least some people. (I decided to make that a statement since if you didn't know it you obviously wouldn't be commenting.) I presume you oppose all medications?
Why would children with almost zero chance of covid issues be made to take the vaccine when it really mostly affected older and sickly people? It did not stop it from spreading. And if they tested it and found that it would cause harm to them later and still did it? First law: do no harm
Because "almost zero" is not "zero" is it
There is a higher chance that you will die from posting on Bluesky and getting electrocuted. It's low, but not zero.
That's just an outright lie
How many children died from covid that were healthy? I don't know of any examples. A few that were immuno compromised. I think there was one obese child in I think Oregon. Can't remember. But no. More people are electrocuted than healthy kids dying from covid
No people are electrocuted trying to post on Bluesky lol
"I don't know of any examples" /immediately cites an example Also, for fuck's SAKE exert the minimal amount of effort, at least. This was a ten-second Internet search: data.unicef.org/topic/child-...
It was less than a half percent. Also most of that was for immuno compromised children. And the negative effects of the vaccine on the young was much higher, especially for boys.
also hey do those kids come into contact with other people do you think not just other children
The vaccine did nothing to stop spreading the virus. Nothing. It still spread from contact. If those compromised people or older demographics wanted to take it they could (and probably should)
lmao
what's half a percent of 73 million
How many kids under 18 who took the vaccine now are at risk of myocarditis? Over 5475 and that's just now. It may show up later for many of them. And these were healthy kids
so my math says that's .0075% going by your numbers
Okay? Again, by your own numbers up to 350,000 children were at risk from Covid
1752
It's actually 365,000
Less than 1800 kids under 18 died from covid. Almost all of them had underlying health issues before contracting covid.
Probably because of the vaccines
Dear Mitchel, nothing productive will arise from this. Nice to see your arguments
🏆🏆
Ah, there's that "only". It "only" affected old and sick people. And what do *they* matter to the Optimum? Thing is, many of us value people - yes, even the old and sick. And vaccines provide collective resistance for the entire population. Even those you write off as "only".
It is as if all those ambulances, all those catastrophic lack of oxygen supply, unanswered emergency calls due to overwhelming plea, and health staff exhaustion haven't happened. I will not continue. Really thought was sarcasm 🤦♀️
No, that happened. It was tragic for them. But the answer wasn't mandating an untested unproven drug and calling it a vaccine and giving it to people who were not in the category that was affected. I survived covid. Was one of the earliest to get it.
And there's "untested"... Keep going, please. I'm filling in my "anti-science bollocks" bingo card.
Yes I am aware. Most medications are not forced on all people however. I'm only against the ones that are. People under a certain age were not in danger of adverse effects from covid and in fact the vaccine caused more issues than it possibly could help for them. All in the name of profit
That is somehow, as for the seatbelt in cars. Should seatbelts not be?
Myocarditis. Is that worse or better for boys as they grow older? The increased chances of that are way worse than the effects of covid on young boys. So why would you make young kids take that chance? For no benefits.
Covid causes myocarditis at much higher rates than the Covid vaccine.
Show me that study
pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
Any thoughts on the study?
It's interesting. One thing they don't cover is infection rate. The vaccine doesn't stop infection of covid (which they do acknowledge in the study in a small paragraph) so the vaccine is an added risk on top of the risk of the chance of getting the virus. First law says do no harm.
Do your own research! www.heart.org/en/news/2022...
All 3 safety trials for the mRNA vaccine was done and posted on NEJM in December of 2020. The mRNA covid vaccine were the most researched, examined vaccines in history. They were wildly successful, and insanely safe. Know what causes much, much worse myocarditis? Covid-19.
Well, that's a dumb argument. Seatbelts have been tested. They have done tests that show what happens with and without them. They have been replicated. I do believe that if you are not wearing the seat belt, you should not be arrested or given a ticket. If you want to be dumb, go ahead.
But, you see, there are car accidents where not having a seatbelt would save your life. Everything may not be well. It's just a simplified example. Vaccines go far beyond your own protection. They also protect those who can't be vaccinated. Covid's mrna vaccine turned out better than conventional
The covid19 vaccine is not what was normally considered a vaccine. It did not stop the spread. It worked a little bit to keep some older or compromised people from dying. There was a whole population that did not need it. There were some that it harmed. If it was not mandated, who would care?
Including this chump. bsky.app/profile/juli...
Popper showed that one can never prove science. At best, we disprove all the visible alternatives and embrace what's left standing provisionally, until it fails a further test.
Exactly
So, just like religion
Also when people tell you it’s fake you can demand they prove it’s fake. Then when they use supported theory or evidence of any kind you can dismiss that by pointing out that it’s part of the mainstream propaganda. It’s fun. You’re never wrong! Also you can sell supplements with it for some reason!
No. It doesn't work like that. It's on the claimant to prove the claim. Nobody has to prove it's fake. It has to be proven real.
I can’t tell if your post was serious or not, but just in case it was yea obviously thats the case, I was being sarcastic. But pseudoscience supporters pretty much never do that and try to shift the need to provide proof onto the person telling them they’re wrong.
Fringe science is entertaining
Reproducible results are key, but to my way of thinking the thought process of why they were not reproduced is important too. Knowing why is half the battle.
Maybe add some quantum theory jargon & use people's ignorance of it to convince them it's magic. I've heard "Observer Effect," used as a blanket deflection to discredit fact. "You can't rely on X study because someone looked at it." 😬 Pretty clever particles, conducting studies like that 🤔
One trick of the pseudoscientists is to latch on to Quantum Theory's description of physical systems via wavefunctions, and claim that it validates their bullshit about everything being a "vibration". "Anger is a negative vibration, and Quantum Mechanics backs that up. The scientists agree with us."
I found a study about this, from the 1960s. Scientists do agree with this princip... ..oh wait 🤔 Not scientists, sorry. Beach Boys. The Beach Boys agree with this principle 😃
But it's all linked, in our Sacred Earth Mother Goddess Heart. We raise our vibration and burn sage to cleanse negative energies from our space, and stop vaccinating our kids to avoid mind-control silicon chips being implanted in our blood, and we see a higher plane.
Yes! I see it now. 👀 A higher plane of intelligence. It's very small, covered in boogers, and has a crayon up its nose.
Like nostradamus right?
Comfort to the weak minded!
A succinct and perfect truth.
Yeah. Just ask RFK Jr. He just uses his “science kit” from 3rd Grade.
I always regretted not getting my degree in pseudo physics instead
Damn, that's just what I said about Art! Go you! (It's okay.... AI is a'comin', my friend).
Or if you want to sell shit: call that shit a panacea, sell that shit (or give it away for free as a loss leader) to those desperate enough to take it, and watch the placebo effect at work.
You are so right about science and its genuine merits. One of the major stumbling blocks for some people is that they cannot understand / accept that scientific knowledge changes over time e.g. regarding covid-19.
True
Can you cite your sources?
Science adheres to demands evidence, falsifiability, & repeatable experiments, while pseudoscience lacks these standards. Science seeks to disprove ideas, works with detailed evidence, and aims for accurate knowledge, making the process demanding. In contrast, pseudoscience begins with a conclusion.
So no sources then.
So please disprove my hypothesis.
And when you have the pseudo scientists and the pseudo historians teaming up….?
God help us!
So slathering ivermectin all over my body while jamming crystals in my ears, doesn't stop polio?
🎯
There should be a Duh button
And pay a lot of money for it. Pseudoscience in wellness is worth roughly $4 trillion.
So true!! Yikes... we are surrounded by pseudoscience now with this administration
Defunding research so you're opinion isn't proven, right or wrong, is also antiscience and fascist.
youtube university isn’t a thing
All while making money off those fools.
Cool
The absence of BASIC science education in the US is criminal. That’s why our daughter went to REED COLLEGE. WE insisted. Perhaps the only baccalaureate program that still requires a SOLID Science course as part of the CORE.
Yup, that's this administration in a nutshell.
wait did you make this up? /s
#MAHA bsky.app/profile/mluc...
You also gotta do some bootlicking in the academia “community” to get published. But hey, once u get tenured u can bullshit with no real accountability. If you befriend Epstein you can be made a star scientist even if you can’t speak or write your own thoughts for decades.
Do you make stuff up just to have something to say? All you've done is prove how much you don't know to everyone who does know.
I published in top journals, peer reviewed other scientific authors, to start with.
Science demands evidence, falsifiability, & repeatable experiments, while pseudoscience lacks these standards. Science seeks to disprove ideas, works with detailed evidence, & aims for accurate knowledge, making the process demanding. Pseudoscience begins with a conclusion which it tries to prove.
That’s basically what you tell yourself lol. Ever took a class of ethics of scientific research? You’ll be shocked out of your intellectual virginity with real world scandalous practices. Academia(science included) is a publish or perish jungle, mostly meaning garbage in garbage out.
And such garbage gets shredded by other scientists with their work, and the person responsible loses all credibility and standing in the scientific community. These conservaderp faux-scientists who try pushing their agenda-driven disinformation get destroyed with actual science.
Check the funding, kiddo. Scientists are paid labor who do not have a higher moral standard than others. They have to eat, and their pay rate is usually lower than their classmates who can land on a better job. Many are international students getting higher degrees only to stay on a visa.
And none of that jaded tripe you say negates the fact that bad science doesn’t stand up to good science. Any in the sciences for cash get flushed out real quick. The only place they can go after is to spread lies on conservaderp disinformation shows like Rogan, Fox, or Newsmax.
Science is all about scrutiny, kiddo. Worshiping it doesn’t make you more scientific, or more moral. Ever wondered why every scientific institution has to have a board of ethics to check on how your worshipped scientists conduct their work?
No one is worshipping science. Worship is done by low intellect, delusional types with a willing mental illness. There are ethics boards because of conservaderps trying to push psuedoscience, who do act unethically. Again, that shit is stopped dead in its tracks by other reputable scientists.
Disciplines of science do NOT automatically become “scientific” kiddo. And, feminism, gender studies, etc, do not qualify as “science”, however “reputable” their deep wallets make them. BTW identity politics is not scientific either lol.
Get real!! newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/ein...
He was all paper and a pencil lol. Fermi and Feynman were REAL physicists. Ever wondered why we have a handful of Fermi Labs but never an “einstein lab”? We only have a first lady who came in with an “Einstein Visa”. That, kiddo, tells a lot.
Mixing science and opinion and culture. Pathetic You are are waste of time. Muted.
A cult in the name of science lol. Treating scientists as priests is your newly found religion?
Religion. Same same
Listening to a relative spouting pseudoscience with another like minded person, I realized a big part of the appeal is that it’s fun; you can just repeat what you heard, and throw in your own made up details, and never have to back up anything
True but sad!
Putting this on FB.
Science invites pushing back. Lies require obedience.
But pseudoscience is HARD. You have to look up all those fancy words and keep using them so I sounds like you know what you’re talking about.
You forgot profit (or grift).
The problem is that pseudoscience is the stronger meme. It is a worldview that easily fits into people's minds because it's simple and it has inherent appeal because it makes people feel like they have control in a way they comprehend. Science cannot shift to optimize its memetic strength.
Exactly. It's why I know trans women are really just men with a mental illness. Yet I've seen ignorant people spread the idea they are women. Thankfully the pendulum is swinging the other way, yay science!
I won’t add to your confused delusions by providing facts & logic. Your overactive amygdala cannot deal with truth or empathy. Stay safe!! - You are muted! This may help! www.psychologytoday.com/au/basics/mo...
You seem to have serious issues. If you are a teenage incel - you may have hope so go for a walk, read a book (not a comic) & meet with friends, if you have any. Sadly, if not, you are just a stupid f#ckwit? Stay safe! I hope this helps. my.clevelandclinic.org/health/disea...

And charge many $s for the "special" product or program
The Knowing part has been manipulated by the almighty dollar, and the CDC is in on it 😥 so science may not change, but our understanding of it is wrong on several levels. Plenty of things like r3,r40, and fluoride water. I'm already the CDCs science project while they know its harmful affects 🙏
You’ve got it correct. Throughout history, science has been mocked, killed and ignored. One day, ignorance will be history along with humanity. Please bring in the dinosaurs
A lie can travel around the world twice while the truth is still putting on its shoes.
Yup. And with AI and deep fakes in the mix, it’s getting increasingly harder to tell fact from fiction.
Here goes mainstream big science again. Always calling us uneducated stupid.

All 3 parts are attached to the original post. Please watch all 3! #Talk about this. #Share this. Tell people #Online & #Offline!! bsky.app/profile/isth...
Come on. It’s some effort to ensure the correct amount of fear is spread. You make it sound like just any fool could do it? 🙃
Yet science has been proven wrong thousands of times and people are habitually blinded by science too. Then there's the lack of integrity that much of the scientific community practices by putting profits above all else. I'm a fan of science, but even Einstein's theory of spacetime is wrong !!!
science was always easy for me, being "gifted". It takes multiple sciences with math ability for any projections. Those who are lower IQ and unlearned don't really understand and make up bullshit.
Are you trying to say there are no Jewish space lasers causing wildfires ? 🤣🤣🤣
I wish this wasn’t true. I have trouble adding “scientist” to Robert F. Kennedy, jr.
My facebook feed is full of people who do that
Brilliant
Yep
So true. Cause and effect is so difficult to prove, but apparently the Repukliscums can do that in their own brains?🤔
Scientific truth, is, like every other form of truth, a function of power. And it's mostly driven by the insatiable demand for profits by the monopolists that dominate the global economy.
Nope. That is drivel.
You acquainted with TS Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions? Or do you think science is a benevolent upward curve of historical progress that in 'the long term' will solve all humanity's problems?
Science is a tool for humanity.
So is Tech. But both are in the hands of monopolists/Vulture Funds whose main aim is profit.
You sir get a repost.
Not only that, the people who fall for pseudo science are more likely to give grifters their money
Believing stuff is easy. Knowing stuff is hard.
There's a thousand Private Investigators that have that written on their office walls....
It is private-eye pithy, isn't it?
This reminds me of a Thomas Paine quote I just read about the Bible.
☝️TRUTH

And claim the proven science is HIDING SOMETHING SOMETHING the ELITES! Then just pretend all opposition is working for SHADOWY FORCES and drop your kickstarter/patreon/prettypleasemoney/etc to help you spread the SECRET TRUTH!
If facts are against you, make up new ones.
Ok, but you've completely underestimated the spooky soundtrack to this youtube video I just researched that proves you 100% wrong. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4...
There will be a mustard shortage coming . Stock up now!
Nice one Chopper ✌️🏴👍 yep a POM
Pseudoconcensus is a grift.
This is good science. REAL science. youtu.be/uq04SazQlEk?...
Kind of like the news.
Or you stand back and marvel at the stupidity of people who screech about 'mah freedumbs' while they refuse vaccines and guzzle tubes of Ivermectin that they bought at the local Tractor Supply.
