It is. These leylands were planted 20 years ago, five feet a part. Now look at them. You’d never plant them here now. They’re protected from the wind by the house so I think I got lucky. Only thing I did right was fertilizer spikes. Did those religiously.

I got this old paper birch. I call her Hazel. She needs some trimming up. The trunks are solid but some branches need to come down.

I need some kit to do it. A pole saw with a chain. I have a ladder and helmet. May need a belt. And a spotter. I need someone to hang out incase of a mishap.

I’ve got a DeWalt pole saw that would do it. One of my favorite tools. One attachment is the saw and the other is a bush edger that bends.

They probably aid in protecting your house in the wind as well. But yeah. Maybe to close to a foundation.
