I think that's true, and it reveals extreme short term thinking. The rich are also dependent for their quality of life on the research, medicine, and social/ physical infrastructure that requires a large, prosperous, and well managed economy. It's delusional to think they can go it alone.
If the rich realized that their wealth depends on all the hundreds of millions of little people the world would be a better place. When the world shut down during Covid and no one went to work - Wall Street and other financial centres just freaked right out. People have power.
Exactly. I've been a manufacturer in the US, and I need customers well off enough to afford my products. If the wealthy class realized that raising the bottom half's incomes and supporting their safety net would ultimately make them even richer, we would all be better off.
