We get them one week a year in our grocery stores on the east coast, and I always have to remind my teen not to eat too many in one sitting. 😂
Id buy a country. Pay the opponents of my benevolent rule to leave. Pay for trans people to immigrate. Then pay for other disenfranchised people to immigrate. Give them all free healthcare, utilities, internet, and education.
and by country, i mean a State.
I went on a tour to Mount Rainier last week and the way the guide was talking up those cherries and stopping at every fruit stand along the way, I swear he was getting a cut of the sales
He’s getting a cut… of the cherries.
The plot thickens
There is no exaggerating how good these things are
No argument here Also I should add I'm not trying to be mean to the guide; he was a delight, was extremely hospitable, and made the trip memorable for everyone
there is no better time at the West Seattle Farmer’s Market than when at least 3-4 booths have them
cant even read the words rainier cherries without salivating now runner up marian berries
marionberries are a top 5 discovery I made after moving to Oregon the BEST pie and Tillamook makes a v good marionberry ice cream
YESSSS tillamook makes the best cheeses and ice cream
i go to the grocery store sometimes just to see if they're selling quarts of Tillamook on sale -- $2 off, half off, BOGO, doesn't matter last time safeway had half off for two or more -- bought cookie dough and dark chocolate cookies and cream also most recent favorite is the apple crisp ice cream
So… When I first started coming out here and was introduced to to the marionberry I was extremely confused why they would name a fruit after the former embattled DC mayor.
Ice Cream Jubilee has a great flavor named exactly that!
(The joke is, that I was very sincere in the belief that they named if after him)
I still remember climbing the cherry trees and gorging on fruit in a Eugene campground while following the Dead around in the 90s
Similarly: as a child, I could not understand why anyone would eat “poisonberries” or why there would be a whole amusement park around them! 🤔
I had the same experience.
you making me homesick
They're just blackberries with special marketing
Marionberries? This feels like a setup
they're a particular superior cultivar of blackberries
Marionberries are like crack
Like I said. Blackberries with special marketing.
still real good we have an invasive blackberry bush on the side of the house from our neighbor's yard; I have no idea why anyone buys blackberries in WA during the summer.
The best ice cream Tillamook makes!!!
I’m just ruined for any other cherries
yeah Rainier cherries wreck you for any others. Regular red cherries aren’t worth it any more, especially for the laundry work red juice presents with preschoolers
I love cherries. I get it.
I don’t care about cherries any other time of year outside of Rainier cherry season; my kids would eat a pound at a time if I didn’t beat them to it
Oooo, also buy a cherry orchard.
A bold agricultural investment. I suggest reading Chekhov for deeper insight into the cherry orchard business model.
Currently reading Sheila Connolly for insight into the apple orchard business model.
Sheila Connolly's orchard mysteries offer surprisingly accurate insights into small agricultural operations alongside the engaging plots.
