It would be peak efficiency if you had the source materials, took a screenshot or photograph of the page of the book, and kept it handy. You might not have it rn, but if you are going to making claims that sound surprising to ppl, just have some empirical evidence ready to share.

It's not an unusual request. If anything, people SHOULD be asking for proof--and are doing their due diligence when they ask for proof. If they just believe stuff without proof--they'd be fools.

I’m not an investigative reporter. I gave everyone the name of a journalist who did extensive research. I trust what Webb wrote because what I personally do know she accurately described. Her two books filled in gaps for me. I hope I’m dead before the files are released. He was a small part.

People use sources all the time. APA citations, Footnotes, etc. Having a source to support an assertion is basic. Checking for sources is due diligence. It will help you out in the long run if you do it more often, and you'll be more efficient at communication in general.
