Unfortunately, he is successful to a point. He's good at conning people, a terrible Euro and UK MP. The Farage, Truss, Rees Mogg, and Jenner brigade do have an audience. I just hope we have enough intelligent people to stand up when the time comes.

Sadly, ‘intelligent people’ are not able to resist popular revolutionary movements. Look how Trump has walked ask over the US unis & the other institutions of the modern liberal state. Look at how Weimar collapsed & how the German educated classes (on the whole) caved in to Hitler. Ditto Italy.

True. Isn't it also about people caving in when being bullied. As you've pointed out, Trump has just walked over many of the great institutions. Do as I say/want, or else. Funding cut, and students denied access. Overall, it's very worrying.

We agree. My first book was about WW2 political exiles (London was host to many).

Interesting. I'll look out for that. I am always open to reading and understanding. This literally applies to anything.

The book was published (by OUP) in 1982. Academic history, I'm afraid. But the role that exiles can play in history from Lenin and Ayatollah Khomeini to de Gaulle and Willy Brandt is pretty interesting, for sure.

That's a shame....I see that you have other books. My son in law is a language teacher. He has a great interest and knowledge, especially around Germany. He is currently reading Vertigo, The Rise and Fall of Weimer Germany. I may steal it
