I agree but just as only a moron would say that the rise in Islamophobia after 9/11 had nothing to do with the attack on the world trade centre, it is really stupid to think these things are not linked. That doesn’t justify them or excuse them.

People are angry. They are right to be be angry but angry people are not always reasonable.

This is generous. They are acting in a racist way. And advocating for collective punishment. That’s inexcusable, particularly for those not directly affected. I’d expect to hear this from Palestinian victims (many of whom have much more compassion and grace) and have some understanding.
