@rantingtrans.bsky.social helped me a lot. She's not on here much but you can reach her lots of places through the linktree in her bio
tyvm!
You're welcome! The single biggest thing that helped me was being aware of WHERE in my body my voice was coming from. Speak from your chest and it's lower. Move it up to your throat and it's gonna sound higher
Do you have any good recommendations @7ydy.bsky.social ?
1.i had to get in voice therapy and get personalized lessons to really understand what i needed to do 2.pitch and resonance is good, but intonation is SO IMPORTANT 3.fundamentals, like breath support, are SO IMPORTANT 4. practice practice practice practice 5. be patient AND kind with yourself🫶
Practice! You want to make it your default, something that just happens without thinking. You can get there!
I sadly have no /useful/ advice. The most important thing to master is often called "open quotient" or light "vocal weight." Most people have a lot of trouble mastering it. My eggy ass figured it when I was 14 and then forgot I was actively doing it until I started transition over 15 years later.
For me, it feels like holding my throat more open. I have never heard anyone else say that so it's probably a just-me thing.
the "lift up your larynx" advice just makes me sound like SpongeBob
High larynx alone will sound really weird; it'll sound downright absurd if it's the /only/ thing you do. /Low/ larynx also sounds weird, though if you add some raspiness to it, you can do a good old-man voice.
transvoicelessons.com was a great resource for me. they have a ton of free content at YouTube.com/TransVoiceLessons, but paying for lessons or a quick consult is a good way to get guided feedback on where to focus your efforts.
