got called "darling" by a stranger on a site where i don't have my name/gender/pronouns. it was in a tone/context that made me figure it was either a woman or someone queer & thought "oh that's sweet" but then it turned out to be a cishet guy. literally felt like that "hello? human resources?" comic
Thay comic can be a good template for pointing out unfair double standards sometimes, but the truth is context really does matter when it comes to who is talking to who.
yeah exactly 😠i cannot stand when cis guys hit on me assuming im female *especially* when they literally don't know anything about me & have no reason to so confidently assume that... i literally had some old guy hitting on me when i had my full luchador mask on and only my eyes were visible once
Some guys just hit on everybody or anything they think might maybe be a woman. Even a pile of leaves raked up with maybe half a curve to it in the middle. These guys need some serious help.
I'd say cis guys, but the first trans man I spent a significant amount of time around as an adult used to do it, too. Just catcall all the girls on the street. Brag about spending his money at the strip club. I think part of his deep image of manliness was just being a pig.
oof im so glad i never met a trans guy like that personally. i do believe they exist though, yeah. it's really gross that it's so much the norm that anyone would think it's a necessary part of being a guy.
it's so awful. i used to be close with a guy who hit on/flirted with everyone like that (mostly women or people he assumed were women, but he was pan) and he still never learned even when it turned out some of those "women" were actually minors. (needless to say, not friends with him anymore)
