Lukas Birks work in documenting the final generation of Afghan Box Cam photographers is phenomenal; and drove so much of the interest that anyone has in these (including mine!); but then has also maybe made it a little harder to find info about earlier instant box cameras and histories online!

Yeah, all roads online seem to lead to the afghan box camera project. Which is a great resource, but Ive been surprised at how little I’ve been able to find outside of it, and a few YouTube creators.

Exactly! A great resource for sure!! But also sorta swamps the signal for other resources! Found ONE active fb group to join though it’s primarily in French! Anyway, I tagged you in a feed I created here in bsky that would try to solve the name problem by combining multiple terms! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

It’s also harder to find many threads on earlier cameras because they didn’t really have a distinctive enough name. Searching forums and threads, etc, for instant box cams or instant street cameras, etc. is much more likely to find info on Polaroids and street photography than instant box cams!!! 😅😅
