After a week without success, this morning I finally spotted one of the pairs of Mississippi kites confirmed to be nesting right now on the NH Seacoast!!!!! We got 2 hrs of gorgeous flyovers, lots of successful prey captures, and vocalizations galore. I am on cloud nine!!!!!!! 🌿🪶

I feel like they first started showing up in Newmarket or Exeter or something like that. I remember going to see them about 20 years ago, but I haven’t been back to look since then.

Yes! If I recall correctly, it was Newmarket first ~2004. So odd to see them here but I love it!

Which town are they in now? I assume they must be leaving soon.

There are confirmed nests in Durham and Dover. The Durham youngster is def close to fledging, and I believe the Dover one is as well. So I believe so!

Sorry for all the harsh crops, but look at these beauties! In addition to our kites we got so many other raptors: osprey, red-tailed hawk, red-shouldered hawk, and broad-winged hawk! 🪶🌿

Hawk migration time is awesome! Or maybe these are all regulars. It’s excellent either way

Regulars, but it’s gonna get even more hawk-y here soon and I’m stoked!

Great picture! We have three in our neighborhood in Dallas right now. Yesterday they were all at the top of a single tree, drying off after a rainstorm.
