Our history, which trump and the Project 2025 are eager to bury, is full of atrocities. Where I live, the Civil War is called the Lost Cause, a “States’ Rights” issue, ignoring that the root of that war was driven by the wealthy 1%’s justification for capitalism based on the enslavement of people.

I want the Lost Cause to be reduced to a shameful chapter in history books and museums next to exhibits that honor the heroism of women, people of color, LGBT people, and people of all faiths who got out of their silos and fought to make our country a better place.

As far as I know, we are the only country that allows statues and images of the losers. Germany has displayed standards about what can be displayed. Anything Nazi is taken down very quickly. They may be experiencing some unrest, but I hope these values remain in place.
