You say this as though: 1) I wasn't aware of that and 2) that it somehow justifies Democratic campaigns engaging in these absurd text campaigns that are more likely to send voters into a flying rage than fork over $10 for the soft promise of leaving them alone for a few weeks.

I have a burner Gmail account for political donations now because of these spams. Still get them on main occasionally
I am so outraged by all the text messages. Felt bad at first for stopping them but this is insane and will hurt fundraising.
Another problem recently ActBlue has made it easier to accidentally donate twice. Happened to me a couple of times. They reversed the charge but seriously ditch the shady nonsense. Any interface that does that enough that you have something about it in your faq is a feature not a bug
Yeah folks are done with this 💩. No the parties aren’t the same but both benefit from the status quo / corporate oligarchy. They still don’t get it - they’ve wandered so far from their base, we are looking for other options

One thing I (used to?) like about living in the UK is that everybody understood that all politicians were scum. It's just that some of them were less scummy than others. And those are the ones you vote and cheer for. Lesser Evil 2026!
Like, folks, do you realize how bad these texts have gotten that it's pissing me off? I ride-or-die with the Democratic Party. And even I'm a few spam texts away from going Full Joker.

I agree. Too many orgs now have our numbers, so we're inundated. I treat them all as spam & don't know which are legit, so I think texting for donations is *not* the way to go. If I think they're legit, I text STOP. Ones I'm not sure of, I Delete/Block/Report as Junk. There has to be a better way.
The rate at which I hit the block button makes me look like a 90s teen texting with a Nokia 8210.
I didn't start texting till the 2000s, but I was *really fast* on the Nokia brick T9 texting. I often didn't even bother looking bc I could just do it by feel. I still frequently miss both brick and T9.
There is a guy running for the Senate who has texted at least once every day since he announced. And I don't even live in his state.

I’m with you. I’m texting ‘STOP’ and then blocking the numbers for everyone of them but my home state politicians. Them I answer each text with “Tell me what you’re doing! Show me results! Then we can talk about money.”

As far as I’m concerned, their inability to fundraise in this political climate is indicative of their lack of ambition and inability to lead in a time of dire crisis. If they want my money then they need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and actually do the work for their constituents.

I'm basically blocking every text they send me. And I maxed out donations in 2020 in both the primary and general. I'm not seeing a huge ROI from the people who assured me, ad nauseum, that they would save democracy.
