I’ve upped my monthly donation plus made large one time donation on Friday. PBS and NPR are worth saving.
Thank you!! 😇
Thank you for the links for donations- and reminding us again of the importance of Public Broadcasting
My daughter is disabled. She is basically a toddler in a 34 year old body. She loves PBS kids. So I just made a significant monthly donation to our local PBS station.
Thank you!! 😇

“Happy Tax”. Love this! Donating to causes dear to one’s heart is an exercise in hope. Pay it forward.
Yep! And all it takes is a few dollars a month. Pick your charity and dive in!
I'm in. Let's make a difference where we can and show others that Americans care! It's also good for our own psyche. These are my top causes as well!!
I was a Navy brat and we moved around a lot when I was a child. PBS was “home” no matter where we went. 💔
I still listen to NPR. Sunday nights they have old radio shows and their back story. Wait, Wait Don’t Don’t Tell Me and local news stories. It is just so sad.
When I worked for PBS, the GOP came at us every year & that chopping block of cruelty only made us more determined to take a member’s $1 (I once got $1 mailed to me from a woman in her 80s) & turn it into $2 on the way to the bank. It’s a hard current reality but our roots will never be unplugged📺✨
It’s a win-win. You get to continue donating to PBS while tens of millions of Americans who don’t share your values don’t. See how easy that was?

Me too.
I did news graphics for a PBS affiliate many years ago. One of my favorite jobs of all time.
This man was the father of Owen, Luke & Andrew Wilson & he paved the way in your area for that PBS channel! #RobertWilson people.com/celebrity/ro...
I can receive PBS in the UK. Excellent channel.
I’ve already donated to our local station but small markets don’t have the subscriber base that we have here.
We have to save PBS
When America lets a channel that supports normals go away because of the abgry white rich oligarchs and their criminal loyalists in government your part of why America is falling to fascisim !
Started my career while in college working for WKNO, the PBS station in Memphis. Reagan cuts had just hit, and fundraising marathons became a thing. My first really good gig was as the production director for an NPR station. CPB grants were a major portion of funding then, mid-80's. They'll survive.
📌
No one hates education, prosperity, and freedom like MAGAs. Science particularly makes them furious. They'll starve in the dark, so long as it hurts someone else. It's an astonishing accomplishment of decades of oligarch propaganda.
Yes by impeach the entire trump regime asap etc
President Pedophile Plunders PBS #resist #antifa #nobigots #nokings www.reddit.com/r/OfficeSpea...
👍😥
My oldest son was a very early reader… I always believed he learned his first words from watching Between the Lions on PBS.
Hi Charlotte, may I recommend an amendment to your donation suggestion? Donate to stations that are in danger of shutting down, which may not be ones local stations.I live in the New York area and my local public radio and tv stations receive so much support they barely relied on federal $
In true public service fashion, the PBS Kids app is totally free. Hundreds of episodes free to stream - Daniel Tiger, Martha Speaks, Sesame Street and Arthur. Cool new stuff I've never heard of, it's all there!
Triage.
Generations of kids, adults, immigrants, English as 2nd language folks educated by PBS & CPB affiliates. People who worked 2 to 3 jobs, had no time or money for school. Learning isn’t just about money, it’s about becoming well rounded human being. That’s why Republicans hate anything educational.
And, when I was a little kid and felt alone, there was Mister Rogers.
And when I was an adult and felt alone, there was Mister Rogers.
I was a PBS kid too, my mom was widowed when I was a baby so we didnt have much. Those shows were my after school companions, I would watch while eating my spaghetti-ohs
As a former resident of Kempner, TX, I remember those days of finding PBS and NPR. Still do now that we escaped to New Hampshire (not that we don't have idiots up here, we have plenty, and we have to apologize for both Karoline Leavitt and Corey Lewandowski.
I'm a member of both my local PBS TV station (WSRE) and NPR radio staion (WUWF). I'm increasing my donations.
The only way to resurrect public broadcasting is to register voters.
And make sure they show up to vote - plus make them run for office/become a precinct chair in their county district/neighborhood. Not just at the federal level, but at the state and local levels as well.
I grew up in the metroplex of Dallas/Fort Worth and watching KERA on a tube tv. I was introduced to BBC comedy like Monty Python and the Young Ones along with really wonderful television like Masterpiece Theater. It would end up shaping my life. All for free, since I was a child of the 60’s.
Me2.
With the rise of streaming apps like BritBox and Acorn, I’ve already forgotten that Python and Faulty Towers, Agatha Christie mysteries, and Doctor Who were introduced to America through PBS. Fully 1/2 of my personality is due to PBS. Bob Ross, dozens of cooking shows, local arts… so much!
My taste in music was influenced by PBS because of the Young Ones. I watched weekly as they got into shenanigans and then a musical break with Madness or another guest artist would solve the whole crisis. What a great time to be alive.
Thank you. I’m Canadian, but we got the Erie PBS station WQLN across the lake. I can’t imagine my childhood without it.
We donate monthly to our local PBS station! and NPR too!
Just like me driving through multiple states, finding NPR
I love pbs so much
When will Warren Buffet step up to help the democracy that allowed him to become a billionaire? He could fund PBS in perpetuity.
Exactly, there really are no good billionaires 😞.
+ school lunches + so many other things Americans will now lose
Their educational shows are amazing! And are a major reason why the Fascists want PBS gone.
adoptastation.org
Just made a donation to my old hometown ((Worcester Mass) radio station - they're down 18% but will likely survive. So also gave to a station in WV that might not make it. And West Virginia is sure a place that needs help more than Massachusetts does. Thank you for sharing this list.
That's what I like about this site. It's not a donations clearinghouse, it's direct links to individual stations, with vital info on funding losses. Stations in Alaska and many of the tribal stations in particular are in critical condition. So are a lot of rural stations.
I'm really surprised to hear so many on here still on the side of NPR after all the bullshit they've pulled
Yah... But wgat do we do about NPR, who has been bending the knee ~ sane-washing & both-sidesing trump, in order to appease him. Can we save public radio WITHOUT saving NPR, which deserves to die?
I still watch a lot of PBS shows. I raised my kids with PBS. I grew up watching Sesame Street and Electric Company and Dr Who, Nova etc
he wants to destroy his enemies and a government funded radio that speaks the truth is his enemy. He’s coming after everybody who did him "wrong" even pediatric cancer. And I hate the people who voted for him.
I read those words ‘viewers and listeners like us’ in the voice of Alan Cumming. And the theme song for Masterpiece Theater is now on a loop in my brain.
Even though we don't watch PBS that much (or any TV for that matter), we are now making a small monthly donation on behalf of people who need it but can't afford it. We quit commercial TV in 2004 and use the time for books, podcasts, and other pursuits. A lot of TV really is a vast wasteland.
👏Me too
My local library is going to set up a celebrate PBS kids table. Encourage your library and bookstores to do the same. Feel free to use the graphic I made
Nice graphic Good job 👏 Typos: education Their dedication to… has been
Thank you! I have bad vision so I don’t always notice typos

This whole thing kills me. MAGAs are 100% sure that PBS and NPR are hugely biased but at the same time, have never actually ever listened to it. I truly believe that if they did, they would more likely be bored by the nerdiness/intellectual aspect of the programming vs offended by the content.
Thank you for you beautiful words of support @charlotteclymer.bsky.social. It’s viewers like you who make all the different. Defunded, but not defeated! 💪🏻
And if you’re in a major metropolitan area, with more corporate funding, consider donating to the lesser-funded, more rural stations. I know the public radio stations keep me sane driving across the expanse of Texas
I grew up on Sesame Street, Electric Company and Mister Rogers as did my children and now my grandchildren. This loss will be felt deeply 😢
My sentiments exactly, Charlotte. I’m doubling up on my donations to my NPR member station. Many employers will make matching contributions too. My firm matches dollar for dollar up to $500.
If even one major, visible, popular account on this app shared our message just once. Imagine the lives that we could save. If they genuinely stand by their statement that Trans Lives Matter, then they should demonstrate it by resharing.
One thing PBS and NPR stations can do is reduce overhead by merging the local administrations, as Vermont does with Vermont Public, which operates both TV and radio networks for the state. I think we'll also see some cities lose their local PBS stations but keep a free on-air signal with a...
...translator from a nearby market, as Bakersfield, CA has with a retransmitter for Fresno's KVPT. There's a risk of loss of local voices here, but if the tradeoff is free network programs it may be worth it. One think I hope we don't see any more of is big PBS stations going out and snapping...
...up nearby or overlapping stations, as NYC's WNET has done with the Long Island PBS station (WLIW) and New Jersey's statewide system, NJN (now NJ PBS). Both were the only sources of local news, with NJN also the only free-to-air service that covered the entire state, the rest of the state is...
...divided between the NYC and Philadelphia markets. Long Island now has no free-to-air local TV news at all. NJ PBS still has a local news program, so there's that, at least.
I’m not worried about my local (big blue city) stations at all, they will be fine. How do we collectively support the small rural stations? (Federal funding was the obvious easy answer.)
Like many rural kids, I grew up with five channels via an antenna (the big three plus WGN and PBS). I’m a PBS ride or die for life. Shout out to WTTW for starting me on this journey and to Mr. Rogers for assuring me that I wouldn’t go down the bathtub drain.
🇨🇦 here. We happily paid for a subscription to our ‘local’ (North Dakota) PBS station in order to access the excellent programmes, which added to our repertoire of CBC programmes. I’m feeling absolutely gutted that this is happening to your public broadcasting
Please let’s do it.
This truly is one of the most vile acts of Trump and the GOP. It defines them, perfectly.
Dammit, Charlotte, you made me cry again. I'm also an adult raised on PBS; from kids' programs to documentaries and arts programming, PBS shaped my worldview.
@mcuban.bsky.social could singlehandedly fund CPB for eternity. He and Bill Gates could shove their couch change into an endowment that spewed out a billion annually, without blinking.
It's the "free" part that Trump and his oligarchs hate.
🦋we must . Yes.
PBS was the station that broadcast Carl Sagan's 𝐶𝑜𝑠𝑚𝑜𝑠 series. That show literally changed my life, as it convinced me that there was much more to the world than what my fundamentalist church was teaching me. So I left it. The RW is afraid of such things.
We can Right after we overthrow The Trump Terror Regime
I’ve canceled most of my streaming services. I don’t use them, so why not put the money to something better than a millionaire’s pocket? The money I saved will be going to PBS every month
Unfortunately, those days are gone... whether or not they come back depends on 2028.
Which is exactly what I wrote in the article. <3
The Edward Gorey animation at the start of Mystery! is still the apex of high art for me. Has been since I was 8.
Agreed, 110%! Although we already have a shit-ton of mess already on our plates, please folks 🙏, (those who are able) please help save this most sacred cultural institution from extinction!
Thank you!

And free concerts! And documentaries. Oops. Guess I got indoctrinated. With learning.
He ruins everything
I learned English and empathy on PBS.
Excellent.
A small sign of stability in an unstable atmosphere.
I’ve subscribed to PBS for years now; $5 a month is a huge bargain for all they offer.
Thanks Charlotte!
There is an American Archive of Public Media that you can find great programs on as well. I think its older programs that PBS doesn't store anymore. americanarchive.org/about-the-am... americanarchive.org/catalog?f[se...
www.pbs.org/video/rise-o...
I absolutely depend on NPR because I can't afford the internet. I'm disabled & live in Florida. Cell towers & electricity are always affected. We depend on an old fashioned radio for weather & news. NPR is the most reliable! I feel like crying. What are we going to do?
They will survive! It will be tough at first, but they absolutely will stay "on the air."
💙💙💙
Call your Senators and House member. Let them know you don’t appreciate their defunding actions! Also, pass the word on the friends, and associates to do the same. Congress can reinstate the funding if pushed to do so.
💙💙💙
If I might add, the free phone app “5 Calls”makes this very simple. It provides the phone number to your representative and your two senators.
Also, with this Congress, you should have their numbers in your “favorites” contacts, considering the horrid clauses in the bills they are passing! Just sayin…😉
They are my in favorites with zombie chickens as their photos.
💙💙💙
Thank goodness for BritBox where I can still access good BBC productions.
I donate every month to FSTV…I will try to donate here too for our children..perhaps we ask Elon to donate with 12 children. I’m sure many of them watch PBS.
I canceled Paramount and subscribed to PBS. It may be the last bastion of truth and education.
🥰🥰🥰
And often had the better signal than other stations. At least in Charlotte, NC.
Thank you for posting this. I’ll be upping my donations and encouraging others to do the same…
Kind of like Virtual Universal Preschool…
Same here. It was all I needed.
Exactly. I refused to get cable even when it was finally available to me, until well into the early 2000s. I watched Sesame Street even into adulthood, just because it was so soothing and good for my stress levels. It was always there.
Destroying of AMERICA!
They think they’ll win by breaking our hearts…💔
I agree that we are going to have to dig deep to save public broadcasting, especially in areas that hate it. Folks can't be abandoned.
All of this
I'm 62 years old and I learned to count from Sesame Street.
It’s no longer in the interests of the fascist regime to educate the public on anything.
Good read, @charlotteclymer.bsky.social! "I didn’t have two nickels to rub together during most of my early childhood, but some of the world’s best television programming was available to me for free."
Way ahead of ya, cut $40 in streamers including @paramountplusbr.bsky.social + and started donating $10 to PBS back in January and now by August we are up to $40...each thing we cut we add a little more.
❤️
Although a one time donation is helpful and appreciated, making a monthly pledge provides guaranteed income in this unstable time.
I’d love to read it, do you blog anywhere else?
Cancel Paramount+ and give the money to PBS.
When I turn on the boob tube, the question is "what do I want to learn about today". PBS helps me be a lifelong learner.
Have a heart.

I’m in a very rural area in Kentucky. I depended on PBS and NPR long before cable or satellite tv became available. Now, with the ridiculous charges by corporate cable and internet companies, I still depend on PBS & NPR. Yes, I donate to both. They make me a much better informed person.
Thank you! 😇
Sent my meagre check Thursday. 🤞
‼️
PBS Kids was there for me and my little guy when the planes hit the Twin Towers on 9/11. I'll never forget that.
Just a little tinfoil around the antenna.
Huh, today I learned we grew up in the same place!
UNBELIEVABLE Hillary did 2016 oppo research (Russians) Jeff Sessions was Attorney General 2017 to 2018. Bill Barr 2019 to 2020 and managed Epstein investigations, prosecutions, and death inquiry. No one ever told POTUS or former POTUS' wife that Trump + Clinton were in the Epstein files?
The entertainment industry elites should be donating millions publicly and taking a stand against censorship. There should be massive concerts and shows to fundraise. They have the resources and the reach to make a change.
Mr. roger's would roll over in his grave knowing Trump is killing PBS.
to lose PBS is one of the most painful episodes of Trump’s demented reign.
heartbreaking
I would very much like to contribute but live abroad and have no local stations, where can I find stations which are underfunded and really need help ?
Just about any local public media org is in need, but I’ll call out the one we listen to every day, is awesome and literally saves lives w emergency warnings to extremely remote areas. We tripled our sustaining membership and ask everyone who can to join or up their contribution: Alaskapublic.org
Any PBS local station would appreciate your support. Support PBS share.google/C3ZfStmBzuMi... Thank you! 😇
ME: Jane Goodall documentary on PBS shaped my perception of the environment and the treatment of animals…. Particularly the great apes! MAGA: too much knowledge about science, the environment, and society being distributed for free and without the regimes approval! This MUST end!!!
