I assume you have some serviceberry but in my yard, it's that and chokecherry that get the most action from birds

Strong endorsement for serviceberry, although I've never grown them from seed. Our SWCD practically gives away bare root plants tho. I'll throw in a recommendation for red-berry elders as well. Super fast growing, I have some in my MN yard that are 3 years old and 9 feet tall.

Nope, I don't have serviceberry, but putting it on the maybe list. Chokecherry is near the top of my list after seeing it on a hike this past spring in full bloom!

I grow 20+ MN native berry and fruit species, and the chokecherry barely gets ripe before it's stripped of berries most years. On the serviceberry side, A. laevis, sanguinea, and alnifolia are top. Least popular in berries in my yard are A. arborea Winterberry, and Highbush Cranberry

Thanks for the tips! I was considering both winterberry and highbush cranberry, but I may steer my focus toward others for now.

They'll all get eaten but some are definitely last preference
