These are all actions of a weak, terrified man and a movement that knows its losing the people & whose policies are deeply unpopular. Trump is accelerating his fascist moves because he knows the majority is going to replace Republicans in 2026 and 2028. Scary times ahead. Resist at every level.

It is highly unlikely a free and fair American Federal election could happen in 2026 or 2028. The Republicans will do what ever it takes to retain power. Don't kid yourself, America is now a fascist state and rapidly devolving. I fear for my friends' safety.

We’re 7 months in and look where we’re at. I’m really worried that the midterms come too late. He may be unpopular but so far no he hasn’t been checked on a single thing and ultimately that’s all that matters. Unpopularity only matters to the extent it manifests as that check.

Trump is much like a rabid dog that has backed itself into a corner, snarling and baring its teeth, threatening to strike out at anyone and anything. And Trump, as with any cornered animal, will be ever more dangerous the more that the walls close in on him. We have not seen the worst of him yet.
And it can't be stressed too much: we can't rely on having midterms. Trump is putting his goons in place to stop them, soon.
I think you're wrong to frame it this way. He's not terrified, at all. He's delusional and has too much power. It's the lawlessness without consequences that gives him no worry. He is switching from caring what his base thinks to just having henchmen in his ear. Thinks he can do whatever he wants.
