Do you know when Novavax might be available?
Do you know when Novavax might be available?
Based on what I saw while scheduling myself (today) - the 4th or 5th at the soonest.
Here, this might be useful to you: www.vaxassist.com/find-covid/s...
Thank you, it says Walgreens has it today so it must be last years? I’ll check with them!
You should definitely call the exact brick & mortar you're hoping to visit! Good luck!
Could you let me know what ends up happening with Walgreens? They are requiring an Rx for me in my state which I will get if they actually do have Novavax or will get it soon. Thank you!
Ok my local Walgreens says maybe mid September for novavax but they have not been given any specific information so they really don’t know.
I went to their site and no mention of novavax but they said other choices may be available upon request. My state isn’t requiring a prescription so far (WA) - I’m going call in a bit.
Oh what?? What's going on with MA CVSs?
Many states require ACIP recommendations to either make vaccines available or to allow pharmacists to administer them. ACIP was supposed to discuss this in June, but RFK Jr. replaced the members with lackeys and they took it off the agenda. ACIP meets on September 18-19.
Honestly, I feel for the immunocompromised, but I have no problem with the people who fought getting vaccinated this long dying. They are the problem. They should just live together and let nature run its course.
I just wish a CVS in any sizeable city in Virginia had them in stock at all.
Except Cassidy has delayed the meeting
Do you have a link? I know he said they should delay it, but that means nothing, because he also said that before the last one and they simply ignored him.
It doesn’t mean they won’t ignore him this time too. www.help.senate.gov/rep/newsroom...
I tried 4 different places in Nashville and it’s not available
The CVS near me sucks so much. I don't even trust them with doing a simple vaccine, sadly.
Krogers QFC also has them without prescription!!
Looks like I'm driving to the next state over
So fucking stupid!
Connecticut here. They do have a screening questionnaire even though you don't need a prescription. 💀 I only qualify because im fat and it makes me feel bad for other people who cant get the shot.
Thank you for this. I didn't know that ACIP determined whether pharmacists could administer vaccines, or that it varied by state. I love an informative map!
Walgreens is similar here in Georgia.
Even w/ a prescription you cannot get at cvs in Massachusetts, Nevada, and New Mexico per CVS.
"specific age groups"... I'm in my early 50s and I'm not old enough to be in that age group.... so I have to drive to either Quebec or Vermont to get this. I don't mind the drive... I think it's stupid it has come to this.
Can anyone give an accurate prediction about what this ACIP might do?
Thank you. I was panicking
Can Katie Hobbs overrule this requirement in AZ? Why put so many people at risk?
I doubt it. It’s not her fault. It was a reasonable statute before HHS was hijacked by RFK Jr.
I'm not sure of the rules in Arizona, and my wife works for CVS. It's all nuts.
Colorado? It has been on our local news that people cannot get the covid vaccine from CVS, Walgreens or King Soopers. Seems that Sept. 18-19 is a little long to wait to see if "maybe" ACIP approves. Just the uncertainty is outrageous.
I agree it is outrageous. This has to do with state laws that dictate requirements for pharmacists giving vaccines. For ex in AZ, pharmacists can only administer if 1) ACIP has provided a recommendation, or 2) You have a prescription.
Thanks!
Having to go to NH or RI to get covid shots as if smuggling fireworks
But this is a new ACIP completely stocked with RFK Jr’s hand picked acolytes. Am I wrong to think there might be more maddening anti-science monkey business come September 18?
I am shocked that, in North Carolina, citizens are required to produce a prescription before they can get COVID vaccine. It should be avail to everybody! We know it is safe and tested ad nauseum by CDC (before RFK Jr). It should be widely avail for no other reason to reduce chance of virus mutation.
For those of us dumb and not in the know, without emergency authorization, is the reason for unavailability / restrictions state laws or something else?
Especially MA of all places.
The underlying assumption of state laws on insurance and medicine were that federal bureaucracy viz. vaccines were like clockwork. That bureacuracy now operates like a clock in a Dali painting.
You’re not dumb because you are unfamiliar with the legal requirements for administering vaccines in all 50 states. Explainer below. In short, availability should increase after ACIP meets mid-September. bsky.app/profile/eliz...
Can you explain why you expect ACIP to recommend, given what we know about why they're trying to oust Monarez?
I was thinking this might be it, but wasn't sure, ty!!
How is CVS able to provide in a state when other pharmacies are saying they need to wait for ACIP decision?
www.axios.com/2025/08/29/c...
Soooo…which vaccine? Old one or new one?
New one.
uhhh... I'm only sorta being funny here, but: new new or old new, or is there a NEW new one we might not have heard of? (sorry, I work in IT, and nomenclature/versioning is always harder than anyone expects it to be)
2025-2026
It will surely be the new one. The old ones were being pulled like a week before the fda approval finally dropped-- it was a whole problem that people who wanted to err on the side of getting the old one, couldn't do it
Just fyi, I discovered last Monday (Aug 25) that CVS will not give you one if you are under the age of 65.
I went to CVS today for my flu and Covid shot. I’m in GA and you must have a prescription. Ridiculous. One more way to suck money from people. They were also pushing a couple of other vaccines I’d never dealt with so they could bill my insurance. I’m so sick of this shit.
Just curious what other vaccines were they trying to push on you?
One for tetanus, one for Hep B, and one I don’t recall. They worded it almost like you had to take them. Ask questions!I’m glad I made sure that wasn’t the case. Not that I’m against any vaccine, I just don’t believe I’m in need of those.
Tetanus comes in TDaP which in includes whooping cough which is a good idea to get if you are around children
I did get that and the flu shot.
Nice! Good luck for covid...
Many thanks. You take care as well.✌🏻
Awaiting my Covid booster either way. Knock on wood, I’ve never had it and got a shot since 2020.
Actually you might want to reconsider those. They are really important. The other one was probably Hep A. Just for your piece of mind check out Immunization Schedules. Follow the links to each vaccine which should explain. But listen to your Primary Care Physician. 😎
Right. I haven’t really looked into those for myself, I’ve just never been offered those in the past. Thought it was weird the way it was told to me. I’m sure they are beneficial.
Yep! We should always research it ourselves. Generally speaking even if my PCP recommends it I still check it out. But I’m a retired RN so most of the time I’m already aware of these things. As I’ve gotten older I’m much more skeptical about almost everything. Especially in the world of trump!😩
Absolutely. Thank you .✌🏻
It’s not them. It’s the law around pharmacists being able to administer vaccines. In many states, including mine, pharmacists cannot give vaccines unless 1) ACIP has published their recommendations or 2) You have a prescription. ACIP does not meet until September 18, thanks to RFK Jr.
I think I will wait until they meet. Maybe it will not require a prescription then. If it does, I suppose I’ll pay…😡
It just really upset me having to now go and spend a co-pay which may sound petty, but I need to save all I can. I’m not angry with the pharmacy, just RFK and his stupidity. I appreciate you.✌🏻
You might be able to get the rx from Telehealth so it’s cheaper. We should also agitate and state and local level for a blanked rx to be issued so people don’t have to do this, or for states to distribute directly
It’s just a shame that people will have to take this extra step for no reason whatsoever. This administration apparently wants to cause as much human misery and destruction as possible. I can’t wait until they’re gone one way or another so science and common sense can once again be welcomed home…
Try calling your doctor first and ask if they will just send through a prescription without a visit. It's worth a try.
I am going to try this. However, about every 3 months they force me to come in to “go over” and renew my prescriptions anyway. They’ll get their money one way or another… that’s for certain… I appreciate you.✌🏻
I'm in GA and saw my PCP yesterday for my annual physical. She said she'd be happy to give me a scrip for the booster if the pharmacy requires it--just request it via the practice's portal.
Thanks for the heads up. Surely they won’t have a problem writing it.
If you are under 65 you will probably have to pay for it. Was around $68 but now there is a trump surcharge I am sure
It's $150-200 without insurance and I expect to have to pay after a massive battle to get it at all. I'm just around too many high risk people to risk it even if I might not need it as much for myself. But...they're trying to make my risk assessments for me. Again.
That sounds about right no And I think someone will start a fund ..like a food bank But vaccines
I’ve been fortunate in not getting it though my mother almost passed away from it. That makes me feel guilty for even wanting to get one knowing you would have to pay that much.🙂↕️
No. GET the vaxx if you can and turn your guilt and anger towards RFK Jr. and his child-killing cronies.
I did. 3 times. But not since I have been getting Vaxxed Have gotten flu either School kids are just petri dishes Retired from hospital to school nursing Rarely got sick when working @ hosp But those kids!!! Stay away from them and you will probably be ok It's cheaper than a pair of Onclouds
I sincerely hope you’re able to get one and certainly a lot cheaper than that. That’s insanely absurd.
The cost to me of getting sick is higher than that, but I'm also in the privileged person of having money I can use for it, albeit also in the less than privileged position of not getting paid if I don't work.
That’s insane.
I share your anger, believe me. None of this is right. It’s absolutely disgraceful.
Agreed for certain. Take care.✌🏻
RX required for over 65???
Under
Will these vaccinations be free to those who have no insurance like the C19 vaccines were initially - Or will the insurance companies negotiate a ridiculous copay for people who have no or suck insurance like me? My provider eagerly cashes my $1200 monthly check but always finds a way to stick me.
I am sure that local health departments will be doing everything in their power to provide vaccines to those uninsured. However, the Trump administration has severely cut funding for these programs in many states.
I get mine from Kaiser b/c they're my provider. Pretty sure being on a TNF inhibitor means I'm eligible (it's how I got my 3rd shot in Sep 2021). This time last year would have been easy (saw I scheduled in early Sep 2024) but now it's "wait and see".🙄
New Mexican here, and I was able to make an appointment at CVS competitor for next week. For the first time I’ll need to bring a prescription.
We'll see if I actually GET one. I don't know what's up with CVS here.
Just scheduled on CVS's website for a vaccine in Ohio, all I had to do was check the box for "high risk" (which I am)
Thank you I was wondering about the regulatory environment that CVS was referencing.
Another reason I am grateful to be a CA resident! Have an appt for 7th booster next Friday.
‼️
There's a state law in NY prohibiting the Covid vaccine from being dispensed without a prescription?
Thank you!
Is this just regarding pharmacies or can your primary care doctor administer the vaccination?
It’s concerning to me that they put out there concerns of withholding the vaccine. By the time we get it, will it be safe ?
I don’t understand this question as written.
So we are seeing that they are withholding the vaccine. I’m sure that makes people feel like they need it. I’m saying maybe it’s smoke and mirrors to make people believe they need to get their hands on it. Maybe it won’t be safe on purpose.
That makes no sense. The pharma companies make the drugs not RFK.
