Depends on your definition of funny business I'd say RNG and a haircut grab attack can definitely count as funny business so Faust counts

It depends on how you look at it. I think Faust is sillier gameplay-wise and Chaos has a funny business personality

When I played faust I only knew like two of his combos the tornado and the item toss I'm pretty sure I only won any games was because no one else played Faust so no one knew how to deal with him When I got on a new level my first opponent was another Faust but one who actually knew how to play him

I think I'd see a similar thing happen with Voldo in SoulCal. People that used him were prone to repetitive methods and people focus too much on pattern recognition, so they often won without much difficulty.

Part of why I pay less and less attention to meta over the years in games is I lose sharpness in learning the game because I'm focusing on preconceived notions rather than taking it all in. I have general strategies going into games, primarily glass cannon builds, but then go from there.

Yeah my mind went not just with personality but also functionality of their fighting styles - funny business being as much straying from the norm as possible.

I do really like funny business. Characters like Peacock, Faust, Voldo and Platinum the Trinity. Bringing that last one up reminds me that they have a mechanic that only comes up in mirror matches. They're jab is them throwing Rock/Paper/Scissors. If two of them jab at the same time, the winner wins

My favorite is the EXTREMELY rare "character that is unaware they are fighting". Examples include Celica from Blazblue, Dizzy from Guilty Gear and Super Sonico from Nitroplus Blasterz. Sonico might be the best because kiterally all her moves are her bandmates attacking while she isn't looking.

Super wise hoth Celica snd Dizzy have great ones. Celica has a finisher where she heals the opponent to full, just to have her guardian robot one shot them and dizzy prevents her eviler wing from shooting a nuke sized explosion so it just misses the opponent, who, seeing the explosion, gives up

I think this comic helped me realize that my favorite archetype may be grapplers. I always said that I just picked the most fun characters, but turns out most of the most fun characters (IMO) are grapplers. Clark, Pot, Tager, Haggar, etc.

One of my favorite examples of "Small idiot, big weapon" was Ex Calibur from Rakugaki Showtime, an obvious Cloud parody. I like to think he was the reason the game was quickly pulled from shelves, since the idea of a pre-merger Square getting uptight at Enix for parodying FF7 is funny.
