DC resident here: who voted for these governors? We’ve been infantilizing MAGA voters for years. IMO, people should stop coddling people or pretending like this issue is isolated to leadership. They want this and they support this.

The State of Alabama has a Senator, Tommy Tuberville, who 73% of Alabama didn't vote for. These are the dynamics in "Red States". So your guess is anyone's guess. 57% of Texas didn't vote at all in the 2024 election. Most people in "Red States" aren't red at all. They just aren't voters.

Let’s simplify using only these numbers. A state has 10 voters 3 vote “red” 5 do not vote 2 vote “blue” There ya have it a “red” state. But is it really??

That’s the argument? They didn’t vote, so don’t blame them? People are busy. I get it. But they don’t get to say “I sat it out, but I don’t support what’s happening.” At best, they don’t give a shit what happens. And guess what: that can be a two-way street.

While the National Guard also serves as a federal reserve component, it operates under the authority of the state governor. The governor of each state is the commander-in-chief of their National Guard. When activated for federal missions, the National Guard comes under the command of the PRESIDENT.
