I love the storm!!! 💛💚 Hopefully the Sonics will return in the near future. Congrats to the new ladies/draft picks!!
Sundell is a steal. Lots of assists for the post.
And related to the center on the Seahawks!
I’m excited to see Malonga - I hope they give her the minutes she’ll need to develop. I’ll be (pleasantly) surprised if any of the 3rd round picks make the final roster.
I’m wondering how many roster spots are up for grabs. Are all the 3rd round picks plus Zia Cooke potentially competing for one spot?
Yes, all 3rd round picks will be competing with Zia Cooke and Mackenzie Holmes for the final roster spot. Assuming 1) Dominique Malonga is indeed coming over (everything reported is that is the plan). 2) The Storm do suspend both Nika and Jordan's contracts. 3) A Vet isn't beaten out for a spot.
Any chance we see bigger rosters next year with the new CBA?
Yes, I certainly think that is a possibility. If nothing else, the salary cap should allow for all teams to roster 12 players is what I’d like to see. It never made sense that they roughly doubled salaries 200% but increased the salary cap by only around 30% or so. It’ll depend on what they agree to
What I would really love to see is the WNBA Adopt some type of practice squad rule. Especially, with team's own draft picks where maybe not all the picks can make the final roster but they can stay on at a smaller salary rate as practice players that can also fill in if too many injuries happen.
Nice mix of top notch vets and high ceiling rooks. I can't wait for Opening Day.
GREAT draft! And there's room for Sundell on the roster (assuming they injury-suspend Nika and Jordan). She seems like tremendous value for a 3rd round pick. Conner is also intriguing but it's harder to fit her in (unless she has a better camp than Sundell).
Dominique Maloga may be the Storms’ next Lauren Jackson.🤞🏼
