As someone who lives in the south, I wouldn’t use the word “full” at all. They’re here, sure, few & dispersed. Most of the people here are fully supportive of Donald, almost to the point of building a religion out of it.

Southerner here as well and you are correct. There are absolutely “some,” but “full” is a gross overstatement.
It’s really weird, too, considering how many are blue collar types. I mean I guess I get it, though: racist grandpa’s ghost, completely bastardized religion, poor &/or unobtainable education, gerrymandering & the same local government since 1965. It’s an uphill battle for these heavy folks.
You could probably create a graph detailing education funding against red states and districts. There would be outliers, but I don’t think many realize how poor some of these places are. Lot of ignorance founded on more ignorance. Still thinking the New Deal was a raw deal.
Like let’s put this into perspective. I’m 42. I have personally met George Wallace. The hate ain’t even very old in the grand scheme of things. I was a child, but I’ll never forget that wheel chaired bastard, not my thought at the time, didn’t know better. He died a year later.
Most these people need UBI and some therapy.
Like just glance through this. This is what we are dealing with. There’s a specific area about an hour from me, which is basically plywood houses and a dirt road. You cannot drive near it without getting shot at or bricks thrown at you. www.newsweek.com/alabama-un-p...
I grew up poor as well; maybe not quite plywood and dirt road, but we struggled from week to week. Generational poverty, poor folks begetting poor folks, isn’t a hole that can be climbed out of in this kind of environment. I was lucky to have a good family that encouraged me to read & learn things.
It’s a whole ordeal, like if my grandfather hadn’t beat it, I’d still be fighting it and I’m not terribly above it anymore. Army to degree is literally the only way out for some of these people.
I believe the last sentence there is precisely the reason this country refuses to socialize education & healthcare. If every citizen was taken care of in those regards, where would we find the bodies to throw at the dumb wars we involve ourselves in or create?
I’d honestly prefer if we just did 2 year mandatory stints and gave everyone an education, but given the nature of our aggressiveness it’s not ideal for anyone. Works well for Korea, leaving out the other notable country that also practices it.
