Yes the worst position/advice is don't resist because you give them an "excuse". Tyrants never need reasons or excuses to apply violence and power - they just do it. Better to resist now and wake up other citizens

Oh lots of people do. Don't resist the armed forces in our streets or it's an excuse for them. Don't protest or they'll call it "unrest". It's pervasive. It's the belief you defeat fascism by not bothering anyone.
