Musk was dumb enough to build a Tesla factory in China when any novice businessman would know that his technology would be up for grabs. The Chinese obviously adopted it and improved on it and now our surpassing him in China and every other markets except the US and Canada

It depends on how mesmerized you got when listening to musk's pitch. Musk has made a career at over promising and under delivering. Seems to be able to convince people the light is just around the corner. Even before all this Tesla has been falling behind as China has been pulling ahead.
