I can't believe these stupid idiots thought this was a better use of space. Like over 8 people patronizing a restaurant fit in the space of a single parked car

More than 8. It’s dozens
The people making the decisions drive everywhere. Like that woman in Adams' inner circle who brags about being an NYC native who's never taken the subway.
The building where Walter’s is located; just filled in planting are which may allow for sidewalk seating. Along with Adelphi, one of the nicest outdoor dining set-ups. Benefited so many pedestrians and park goers.
This sort of thing is disheartening for those of us looking for useful urban spaces and lively communities. Restaurants lose customers, then their businesses, and the street starts looking like the dead zone at the mall, with insurance offices and nail salons. So sad.
They've also been using this to go after outdoor seating setups that are on the sidewalk but within the property line, many of which predate COVID.
And, in NYC, cannabis dispensaries.
Yes, those here, too. And dental implant places and wellness-yoga places. There's no street interaction for these businesses. It shuts the neighborhood down, and it's s not comfortable for kids on the way to and from school.
truly insane
But those 8 people can get to their doctor's appointments! And why do you hate 9/11?
But doesn't it warm your heart when cars have a place to call home? 🤔
Cars ruin cities.
Yep, but hardly surprising given the political corruption in the mayor’s office and the city council’s say-slogans-and-do-nothing MO
Moving from Japan to US “walkable” cities, the amount of on street parking here is ridiculous.
It’s obscene
I like not only having to prove that you have an off street parking spot lined up before you're allowed to buy a car, but have to also prove that the spot is big enough for the car you want to buy.
Yes 🙌🏻
