Virginia is facing a serious teacher shortage. Our students, parents, and educators deserve a Governor who will focus on raising teacher salaries and make sure all students have access to a high-quality teacher.

Pay wasn’t the reason I left the profession. It was a small factor but there are many, many other areas lacking when it comes to teacher retention.

If you raise teacher salary, give teachers choices on how to run their own classrooms, stop ridiculous book bans and increase funding for public schools (!), then Virginia will be the Mecca for teachers of all disciplines. EVERY teacher in the country will want to work in Virginia!

You know what I'd love to see? An "ask me anything" hour. With actual responses. In this age of social media, this would be how I'd reach out to voters.
