I was at a doctor’s office last week discussing preventative care. She ended with “and, of course, get the flu and Covid vaccines in the fall,” and I was like “do you still think we’ll be able to?” Her response was “what do you mean?” Like, she was genuinely surprised why I would ask that.
Get a new doctor.
I had this exact same conversation with my doctor a couple of weeks ago with the same response.
I contacted my kids pediatrician office (Kaiser) and asked for their 2nd dose of Gardasil early. I didn’t feel comfortable waiting for our usual annual office visit in October. They were bewildered about why, and vaguely condescending… but I insisted so they made the damn appointment and we got it

Meanwhile, our pediatrician told us they could no longer order the COVID vaccine at all and if we found somewhere with a supply that our kids could get, we should do it.

My doc was super condescending when I insisted on an MMR titre bc I’m old and wanted a booster if I needed one. Every time I’ve said something about wanting to make sure I’m up to date bc of the current t public health situation they’ve just looked at me blankly. Zero comprehension.
I had virtually the same convo with my Kaiser doc. He didn’t understand why I believed I wouldn’t be able to get the Covid vaccine since I was under 65 and no longer underlying issues. Had to walk him through what was happening at the CVS on the street.
My housemate has been in a nursing home for close to two years now. (Long story) She requested a Covid booster months ago and hasn't received it. They moved her to another room over the weekend because her roommate has Covid.
...and she has it.
My Kaiser doc was baffled when I asked about getting my shingles vax one year early (it's recommended at 50). I explained my concern and she just laughed at me. No clue what I was talking about.

I went in to my Kaiser PCP in late November last year and asked her to give me every immunization she could. I almost wanted her to tell me I was being ridiculous, but I’m glad she didn’t. And she surprised me with one she managed to justify for me! sorry your doctor wouldn’t do the same for you.
(And she ran my titers for measles, mumps, and rubella with no argument, and was clear that she’d order the vaccine re-up if any of them were low.)
