It’s interesting to see the lack of continuity in higher ed terms across borders. One would think there’d be some governing body that decides a universal verbiage used in granting various degrees. In the United States, thesis is used for Master degrees; dissertation is used for Ph. D. degrees.

In this context it’s often the other way round in other countries: dissertation for Masters and thesis for Doctorates.
