6. Allow modular / mobile housing in high demand cities We can talk about prefab/modular all day, or we can simply allow the scalable prefab/modular housing solutions that already exist. Don't want RVs in driveways? Then build more housing!

Allow modular / mobile housing in high demand cities Where the 5 year rental vacancy rate average is less than 3% allow: Temporary use permits for RVs connected to existing home services (sewer/power/water) “Park Model” 12’ wide trailer homes “Tiny House” 8’ wide trailer homes Non-trailer tiny houses (within the current size limits for tiny house / park model trailers)

Ok! There's lots that should also happen at the Federal and local levels, but this is where I think the Province needs to push to help us find our Missing Middle.

And, you probably noticed I added the wrong image to #4, so here it is.

Infrastructure mapping support Provide common guidelines / methods for how municipalities can map existing infrastructure capacity (sewer / water / parks / schools) Identify what level of density can be added without requiring substantial upgrades to infrastructure Identify infrastructure bottlenecks (i.e. areas where there is sufficient school capacity, but insufficient sewer capacity)

Yes to this. Especially in places where there is NO affordable housing because local governments have prioritized 5000 sq ft luxury homes. Flexible density can be used until permanent affordable solutions are built. thediscourse.ca/nanaimo/regi...
