Honest question time - I want to do a piece later this week on whit appears Arsenal are the most hated club in England. I am open to all responses so long as it not stupid BS whingeing and moaning. I’ll feature some of the responses in the piece. Please share.

Arsenal aren't 'most hated' —we're most visible. Invincibles etched us in memory, Wenger redefined football, and Arteta polarises because he dares lead with edge. Hate here is semiotic envy: Arsenal are proof that identity with conviction unsettles the insecure.

I’m pretty sure Man City fans would disagree. Surely the most hated club. Chelsea not exactly loved by neutrals. I’m not sure it’s possible to be objective on this one. The fact that Neville and Carragher are so prominent clearly has an influence too, both having inherent anti-Arsenal bias.

Think a % of our online fanbase has a lot to do with it (not all) but we all remember the abuse new signings got It goes much deeper than that, but for me some of the online wankers are just sad little fucks, and if their sad little fucks to us what are they like for every other fan base 🤷‍♂️

There’s a great book by Jon Spurling about just this very fact. Goes back almost to our very beginnings.

Biggest club in biggest city. Country folk don’t like the metropolitan type. The pot is too melty for them. Also: maybe all the toff ownership pre SK: Lady this, Sir that. First to embrace foreign players. Le Prof. Perception of being poncey & entitled. Prawn sandwiches. Champers. Elite.

Don’t do it. Your position as an Arsenal fan makes you too biased to answer the question of whether Arsenal are the most hated club in England.

Goes back to the 1930s, at least. We weren't just the first team in London to win the league in 1931, we were the first southern team and in so doing we broke the northern/Midlands monopoly that had dominated the first 40 or so years of professional football. Before long we were 'Lucky' Arsenal 🙄

I don't see that being the case. I think Man Utd are the most disliked club. I think part of the issue as far as the people I speak to are concerned is that people outside Arsenal don't like Mikel Arteta. And our online fanbase is the easiest to wind up so that's a factor too.

Yeah, fair, I do struggle to find out why they hate Arteta so much. Is it that he was a young assistant with no previous experience getting one of the flagship jobs in the Premier League and has been backed?

I think his intensity on the sideline is a factor. Not *the* cause, but not sure the 10 inches he "gains" from consistently standing outside the bench's perimeter is worth it, for instance.
