If American citizens are ever able to vote again and can elect a sane, intelligent, competent, non-criminal into office, I think the first orders of business have to be to shore up democracy. They have to safe guard elections AND the judiciary. They have to reinstate accountability and fairness.
I agree. If we can save democracy, then steps need to be taken to strengthen it and prevent someone like Trump from hijacking it again.
Absolutely. We’ve seen decades of voting machine manipulations (Bush to Trump.) That must end instantly. If we already had fair, open, unmanipulated votes, we’d already have had solid democrats since the Clintons probably. But anyway, the elections must be made completely secure and honest.

The SCOTUS must have accountability. I remember Trump’s first term where Neil Katyall (sp?)was very confident that Trump would be successfully impeached because he and others had just rewritten those rules. So…we’ll need expert experts this time.
We elected Trump once and democrats couldn’t even bother to pass voting rights legislation. I doubt they will do anything if they come back to power.

At the very best, they might be able to stop the bleeding. Where is our Project 2028? Blue states should start organizing together. There needs to be a plan in place to nullify SCOTUS, who will stop any progress. They will pretzel-logic taking away the same powers they gave to Trump.
This is a real problem. Because an open, fair democratic system has true risks and vulnerabilities. Like the Congress/Supreme Court blocking appointment of justices during Democratic administrations, but expediting them during Republican administrations. There needs to be strong legal protections.
It's infuriating because there was so much talk of doing just that--codifying EVERYTHING--after The Destructive Fucker's first term. I understand that Manchin and Sinema were obstacles, but if we had more effective Dem. leaders then, we might have been more aggressive in our approach.

Incompetent, partisan hacks should never be able to be nominated to the Supreme Court, for instance. They should have a minimum of like say 20-years on the bench, tons of decisions, papers, books for thorough review, and have to answer every question. No Supreme should accept donations, etc.
