This is more than just money: it’s livelihoods, community, fuel independence & positive well-being. We ALL have a responsibility to source & use our energy ethically - we do that by innovating cleaner burn tech. Our stoves are made in the UK, use renewable, local fuel and burn as clean as possible

Of course you are! Wood smoke is toxic and nothing you can say or do will change that.

OK - but we are still happy to listen to you (hopefully you won't find us as deluded as you think) - you would still be welcome here!

As we have said many times, if you are planning to manufacture clean heating solutions that don’t burn wood or anything else for that matter we are happy to come and look. Do you have any plans for this or are intent on tinkering with wood burning whilst still producing toxic smoke?

We actually do quite a few things here.. not just working out how to burn wood better. In all we do sustainability and making great products is what drives us.

Like what? Please tell me in detail what other things you do and explain why these “things” don’t produce toxic smoke.

Apologies - didn’t see your enamel kitchen and bathroom products. These are really nice and something I would buy but won’t because you also make stoves. I nearly bought a lovely mini electric Aga style stove years ago for the fireplace but then couldn’t find them recently. Came in fab colours.

Looks like mostly accessories for burning stuff which still encourages people to pollute the air we all breathe! Same as when I looked before. I am looking for you to produce something really clean and innovative - not impressed so far!

Neighbours Against Wood Smoke @nbrsvswoodsmoke.bsky.social

Lives are more important than livelihoods, you are devastating communities with your toxic emissions and there’s no positive well-being for neighbours. Fuel independence can be achieved with clean methods such as solar panels & heat pumps. Are you claiming all your customers are completely off grid?

How will it improve anyone's situation? Or are you are going to join us in campaigning for H&S protections for neighbours of existing stoves? That would be something for us to talk about. Use your influence with DEFRA to facilitate this and it's likely we'll all be willing to meet.

Happy to talk about anything you raise too. From our perspective we can show you the latest innovations in using wood for heat which is our passion - but as you say we need to reduce any downsides which is what we are doing.

bettertimes.bsky.social @bettertimes.bsky.social

You need to eliminate downsides, of which there are many, not reduce. I am not interested in seeing anything to do with burning stuff, it is toxic, selfish and stupid.

avatar
Charnwood @charnwoodstoves.bsky.social

We all need to reduce the downside until we eliminate - this goes for everything we want to improve - take EVs much progress has been made, but still a lot to do, esp with regard to extraction of rare earth metals. We would love to show you how we are improving here.

Mike Hinford @mikehinford.bsky.social

Which means you are passionate about causing health issues to the neighbours of wood burners. It is not possible to burn wood for heat without higher emissions than gas boilers or heat pumps. You don't really care about other people.

Charnwood @charnwoodstoves.bsky.social

No Mike - that would make us very odd! You too are welcome to come and see what we are doing.

bettertimes.bsky.social @bettertimes.bsky.social

It makes you more than “odd”! Your stoves manufactured from 1973 to date have contributed to overall air pollution and have caused both neighbours and users to breathe in toxic fumes causing many health issues. I think this makes you thoughtless, selfish and lacking in empathy!

Charnwood @charnwoodstoves.bsky.social

It's quite the opposite - our products have always improved how we burn - that is partly why we have seen a reduction in UK of 72% in PMs since 1990 (17% 2020-2023). Do come and see...

Mike Hinford @mikehinford.bsky.social

Well you are odd for not being able to see that your passion also harms people. If what you are doing involves making products that allow people to burn, then there's no point in coming to see you.

Neighbours Against Wood Smoke @nbrsvswoodsmoke.bsky.social

Can see from the specification that the emissions are outrageous in comparison to other heating methods. Seeing it or talking in person is not going to change that. The "innovations" cause other problems, like higher BaP emissions. Do you object to H&S protections for neighbours?

aug 6, 2025, 6:21 pm • 4 1 • view
avatar
Charnwood @charnwoodstoves.bsky.social

That's ok if you don't want to visit. It's just that by talking face to face so much more progress is possible. For our part we will keep on innovating and if or when you are ready the offer to visit remains.

bettertimes.bsky.social @bettertimes.bsky.social

As we have said before we are happy to visit and see any progress you are making in designing a heating source that does not burn wood or anything else, produces NO harmful toxins and does not affect others in any adverse way. Let us know when that happens.

Neighbours Against Wood Smoke @nbrsvswoodsmoke.bsky.social

Would you be OK with people being self sufficient with their sewage too and dumping it in their local river to avoid paying the big bad water companies? Why do you think its OK to do this to our air? One household benefits, the rest of the community suffers from the pollution.

Mike Hinford @mikehinford.bsky.social

Unfortunately "clean as possible" for modern wood burning stoves is nowhere near as clean as gas or electric heating. People suffering from lung conditions who have neighbours with wood burning stoves don't have positive well-being. You don't care about people's health.
