I never want to hear anyone repeat this Not Actually True Thing that 25-year-olds don’t have adult brains ever again. You are enabling purity culture, abusers, and fascists and the results will come for you too.

it is extremely pernicious and is being used all over the place, really embedded in public consciousness. it was used in one very positive way (roper v simmons, ending the death penalty for juveniles) and i think that positive outcome blinded many people to all the ways it could be used to harm.
