I do not like jump scares. I can tolerate but don’t enjoy most gore. I find medical horror triggering and body horror can be an issue depending. But I do, apparently, love horror movies, and the real discovery of the last ten years is just how much room there is in this genre for me.

Anyway, I’m really enjoying learning to navigate these films in ways that work for me and if you love film but think you aren’t up to horror, I get it, but you are missing great stories and there is a way!

If you let me know what your horror groove(s) is, I can probably point you toward some stuff you’d like. A lot of horror isn’t my jam, but it’s one of the largest segments of my collection, these days.

Psychological, atmospheric, and/or gothic are usually where I hang out the most in horror. I too hate torture porn and excessive jump scares.

Yes. I'm careful about it, and I know I'd hate the FRIDAY THE 13TH-type stuff (I watched a little bit of that on cable in the 1980s), but I pay attention to what I've been told is good.
