I just can’t get my head around Pike being the guy who drapes himself across a woman’s legs in S1 and wants Batel to be a little wifey and is unable to respect her bodily autonomy in S3. It’s not even that I’m mad he’s a jerk; it’s that it makes no sense

💯It's like S3 writers thought making him sad, weak, and controlling was as close to "empathy" as they knew how to write... or they were just completely overruled by Paramount which is what I suspect. NO MORE EMPATHY, THAT'S TOO WOKE

(Also why why why are we doing universal heterosexual serious relationship monogamy in Star Trek. This has literally never been the thing. It makes me crazy)

S3 is anti-DEI anti-woke Paramount flexing

I don’t even mind Vulcan comedy eps (I love the one in S1 and rewatch it a lot) but this transphobic mess and also how it treats Una and that dude… I could scream.

That Una subplot was so weird. Like... what in the world? But I've been saying WTF to so much of this season, it's hard to catch all of it. I think I missed the transphobic part 🤬

A whole bunch of people sitting around d chatting about how these folks don’t know their own minds and it’s hard for them that they’ve changed was maybe not the hopefully accidental allegory for 2025. Also imagine if they had treated Una and her ex seriously? How lovely it could have been. But no.

Ah, dammit, yes... that's not the allegory we need right now. But not surprising at all in the context of the rest of the shitty writing decisions.

(And while we’re here, it’s super obvious that Batel was originally intended as an antagonist who was sleeping w Pike for info about Discovery. It’s set up so clearly in S1E1 it’s maddening. I love Melanie Scrofano and she’s made me love Batel but this shit makes no sense.)
