There's out of touch, and then there's opposition party leader facing fascist capture of Dem cities across the country by the military. As someone immersed in politics, he knows the stakes and he knows how fascism is fought, yet he actively opposes leftist leaders & offers olive branches to Trump.

Makes sense. For some reason, I attributed that specific brand of evil to the Clintons, but the upper crust of the party all probably shares a similar mindset.
