There’s a tag from the maker on the left sleeve near the wrist. There is zero reason to still have that on a jacket. It’s like walking around with the basting stitch still closing the vent(s): a signal that the wearer is a complete rube who cannot dress themselves.

Ah. It is things like this that show I grew up poor. I almost never undo the basting stitches on pockets, though to be fair most of those are women's pants with bizarre shallow pockets anyway.

Tbf, on women’s clothing as you say, there is basically no point. You can feel the pockets will be silly shallow, so I used to leave them shut. On men’s suits, it’s worth the while undoing them.
