I learned this at 6 when a neighbour had a baby at 16. She "decided" to only like girls from then on b/c the dad ran off. Which seemed totally reasonable to my 6 yo mind. 1962...and I understood she was the same person she'd always been no matter who she "liked". She's a great grandma now.

She was still the girl who climbed the apple tree to shake them loose for us kids. She was still the girl who helped me home after a blood soaked dogbite. I saw her since covid and she had 20 yrs with the love of her life...better than lots of people. Diane...this is for you.

My life would be so much poorer without my LGBTQ+ family and friends. My heart hurts every day for how much harder life is for them, while it rejoices to see them living, loving and thriving in spite of that.

I went a long time before realizing that not everyone had personal knowledge of LGBTQ+ folks. How sad for them. There's so much "more" in life than just what we know/experience. Hence my Live and Let Live choice
