On the contrary - as the official Democratic Party VP Candidate, it would be absolutely expected for her to continue the campaign in the event of the incapacity or death of the candidate for President. /1
Whether it happened in late June or November 1. The primary campaign was over - Biden / Harris was our ticket. She did her job. /2
Our challenge was that this was a new situation, and we'd never actually had to execute the rules of succession mid-campaign. /3
I will say that it would have been easier if Biden had actually died, or left the Presidency - Harris wouldn't have been pulled between her internal position on Gaza and loyalty to Biden, who was still President. /fin
It should never have happened. An old man thought he could do whatever he wanted, as per usual. And fucked us all, as per usual. And people are supposed to get credit for this? Excuse me? No one gets credit for this. Only blame and shame. Every last one who could have said "no sir you may not."
Except he said he wasn't going to run at all, and then he did. We all knew he wasn't going to actually be fit to run by then, but then he did. That is being deliberately obtuse to the situation at hand. No one gets any credit for creating an unnecessary situation and then "fixing it."
This is literally a GOP talking point. Stop repeating it. Come up with your own material.
It is what many people have said pissed them off. Sure, the other side uses it as a talking point - it was a blunder.
