There is absolutely no verification on the 3rd party verification providers that means we aren't handing over details for nefarious means. The whole law in the UK makes online far less safe.

It still censors here in America...in fact they just had an update about it.. I have friends in Australia and by December ALL social media that kids can access will be under this law..they have to provide the proof.
Not for long And not in Australia
Is the UK law changing?
Laws like this do not become less restrictive And yes, the issues with the UK law will need it to become much like Mississippi and Australia. If a VPN can bypass it, it will be locked down to personal id
Let me know when that happens.
are you in the UK? THE LAW ALREADY CHANGED , YOU NEED TO VERIFY YOUR AGE TO VIEW ALL BLUESKY CONTENT , TOOK ME 2 MINUTES TO DO.
The article you're responding to explicitly details how the two laws are different in a variety of ways. They aren't the same laws, and the same verification system that's used for the UK would not be in compliance with the MS law. You saw that part, right?
yes which is why I in the UK verified and I wouldn't in MS
I'm glad you get the difference between the two! Your first post reads very much like you were downplaying the severity of the the MS law, and I'm thankful to hear that isn't the case.
The MS law is terrible, but these laws are being introduced in multiple places, Bluesky will need to implement draconian user verification if it wants to operate in a large number of places
I think this is a situation where the phrase "Don't comply in advance" applies. Nowhere else has a law nearly this onerous or restrictive (yet). If the MS law survives several years of inevitable court challenges, we can revisit that point then.
The MS law is almost certainly unconstitutional.
Yes I didn't intend to do that.
yeah, so just like you, BlueSky also took a different approach.
Exactly
Are you familiar with the differences between the UK law and the MS law?
Not fully
They’re pretty different. bsky.app/profile/kath...
I know
