I understand that it can be very helpful to know that the exiles kept their cultural identity alive by adhering to, and refining, a nationalism centered on a specific place and mythic past. It doesn't make Adam & Eve real, though, nor any of the other stories they invented (or cribbed, honestly).

I think it means that someone online is trying to lecture me on denotative and connotative definitions in imperfect syntax.
