Also worthy of note is that a core part of (ancient) Chinese military doctrine is deception / misdirection. The fact that they are for years and years openly hostile to Taiwan should tell you they are NOT going to attack it. 5/6

I remarked earlier that China is not in a good position to attack Taiwan. For one, they would find the US opposed to them. Secondly, China is hugely dependent on energy imports, a lot which comes through shipping. A naval blockade could force it on its knees in weeks. 6/6
